Fished then golfed today. Didn't drive. Picked up a massive platter of southern fried chicken this one amazing place does on weekends/holidays on the way home. If I'm awake at 8 pm I'll be shocked - Takemedrunkimhome
Oh I know...guess my point is that game really helped me. There was a 2 or 3 year stretch in the 90's where the Habs kept making trades that left you shocked at the returns - Takemedrunkimhome
After 93 they did a great job helping turn other teams into contenders - Takemedrunkimhome
Courtnall put up big numbers for MN/DAL for 2+ years playing with Mike Modano. Then DAL traded him to VAN for a 5th. And you say the Habs did some stupid trades!

"Would we have loved to have kept him? Of course," Marc Bergevin, general manager of the Canadiens, said Monday. "But not at $6.1 million and not with Christian Dvorak available to us.": https://www.sportsnet.ca/...mi-not-offer-sheet-price/

I think you got a better player at a lower price. No bad at all.
I wonder what the price of somebody like Hertl would be. Bergevin is clearly swinging for the fences instead of rebuilding, but as it stands now we're a fringe wild card team at best. Hopefully Bergevin has something else in the works either a higher tier 2nd line center that would make us deep down the middle or a better dman than Savard.

I'm guessing a package for hertl starts with KK and a 1st in 2022...

Something like Poehling, a 1st in 2022 and another minor asset. Sharks would have to retain some salary. Sharks have diminishing leverage. Hertl needs a new contract after 2022. He was one of the guys that said Kane was ruining morale on the team and in a recent interview, he said he didn’t know if the Sharks wanted him and whether or not he wanted to be there.

are SJ looking for players or picks and prospects? MB has all these assets, depends what they want.

We might as well do it. Right or wrong Bergevin is spending to be competitive right now, to not go all the way is a half measure. Drouin probably has to go back to make the money work.
I would think they're rebuilding, no clue though. - apex123
Rebuild I think. Ready and near ready prospects and high picks. I don’t see them wanting any part of Drouin. Pretty sure they’re willing to retain salary on Hertl. The big wild card is can you sign him. He has other suitors weak at center. Wild,Bruins and Vegas to name a few. Like his name, he does tend to get hurt.

I don't think mtl should trade a 1st + to get a rental, which is most likely the price. I read the guy was after 8 millions, which is a lot of $$.
