Based on cap space alone, only real option is hoping for Poehling to be a 2C which, crazier things have happened but I wouldn't feel safe betting on it. Habs have:

1 - Suzuki - a 1C but as of now, not anywhere near the elite ones
2 - Dvorak - a 3+>2- (I liked that analogy)
3 - Evans/Poehling - Evans could be a 3 but hasn't proven. Poehling has nice tools and aize but hasn't proven anything
4 - Whoever loses above/Perreault/Paquette

So pretty much everybody playing a slot above their ideal location on a contender. Yuck

that pretty much sums it up. Bergevin can claim he's comfortable going in the season with those guys at C but he's surely aware it's rather thin and needs to add to it.

I think they philosophy on it is that unless you have an elite 1C, a great defensive system can make any goalie look good.

if you consider Habs don't have a first line it works out fine.

They really traded him early, even earlier than KK no? pretty sure he was way bigger than KK, who is tall but not that big

And he was playing with Lindros

- deadpoulet

He was 25 when he got traded and then just took off, his max points in mtl became his goals in Phi lol

definitely, identifying the issue is only the first step, doing something about it is the challenge.

That's kinda my point though, how? Assets and cap space went to Dvorak. In MB's mind he did address it, of that I'm quite confident

Lekhonen and Armia for Hertl, who you let walk at the end of the season.
need to add a pick or a prosepct? no problem

Tomas Hertl is the missing piece and in the final year of his contract but i am fine with having the kids battling for the 3rd spot (I like Poehling chances) and I honestly think that Dvorak can hit the 55 pts mark with the quality wingers he will have. He was on pace for 25G/45 pts last year without playing much with Kessel and Keller so who knows...

the good news is, they haven't played a single game yet this year, so everything is still up for grabs...

Dvorak is more of a 3+ than a 2-
we still need a 2C

- braidan

As I said earlier, Dvorak is more of a Danault replacement than a 2nd C.

But here we are...

I always forget how the Habs have such amazing wingers compared to the rest of the league. This argument totally holds water

Didn't say he owed us anything, just saying to see a 40 point player got to a 50 goal scorer stung
