you said he was a 2 - two days ago
maybe you are right but I want to see him play first
40 points on the third line seems like a lot for a C in a cap world - deadpoulet
I think Dvorak was brought in to replace Danault and not KK |

well we don't know how good kk will be for the canes, if they will extend him, etc. He won't even play there as a C.
How good Dvorak will be in mtl? What about the picks? Where will they end up?Why does Timmins has a job? Am I really a chicken? Etc. - deadpoulet
and yeah with all those question marks it sorta feels like it was a dumb move by the Canes, for now. KK does have potential and could become a very good player, that remains to be seen. |

A 40 point 3C on a team with a void at 2C. |

and everyone here thinks that on a good team Danault would be your #3C.
so yes, if they are serious about contending, they need to find a #2C. |

The GM clearly wanted to sign the young Finn to a bridge deal to be able to assess him better in the future, but the Hurricanes’ move robbed him of that opportunity.
He had a month between losing Danault and the offer sheet being made. Bergevin tried to lowball KK and didn't thank an offer sheet was coming.
MB wasn't robbed. He gambled and lost. And the insinuating that the Canes promised an extension is sour grapes by the GM who got played. - mr.peanut
can you tell me what does it smell like in the locker room?
Thanks mr insider peanut |

Dvorak is more of a 3+ than a 2-
we still need a 2C - braidan
That’s splitting hairs but I think it’s accurate.

Exactly he's great on 3 but unless we get an actual 2.....
it is what it is |

well, you need to factor it in. can't take the bad and not the good. - fidopro
my point is Dvorak wasn't part of the offer sheet per se, but a reaction to it. |

Smells like hockey equipment and bacteria killing spray.
Edit: Don't see what I said implies being an insider. It's all obvious stuff |

Danault was a 3 playing 1 so who knows, but we are still down a C unless camp surprises |

also, from the main thread :
The Hurricanes are a contending team. They wouldn’t have done this if they didn’t want Kotkaniemi on their roster.
I guess I missed the part where the canes became contenders |

Leclair was a monster playing with another one
Did he not scored 50 a few times?
can't see it |

Well they did win the division with 2 back ups and a career AHLer |

I remember saying that if Leclair scored as often as he fell he'd be a 50 goal scorer.
He wasn't all that in Mtl and then he left and stopped falling lol |

Based on cap space alone, only real option is hoping for Poehling to be a 2C which, crazier things have happened but I wouldn't feel safe betting on it. Habs have:
1 - Suzuki - a 1C but as of now, not anywhere near the elite ones
2 - Dvorak - a 3+>2- (I liked that analogy)
3 - Evans/Poehling - Evans could be a 3 but hasn't proven. Poehling has nice tools and aize but hasn't proven anything
4 - Whoever loses above/Perreault/Paquette
So pretty much everybody playing a slot above their ideal location on a contender. Yuck |

yeah I guess that's why management decided to make the douchey offer sheet, otherwise no one would be talking about the canes loll |

They really traded him early, even earlier than KK no? pretty sure he was way bigger than KK, who is tall but not that big
And he was playing with Lindros |

if you consider Habs don't have a first line it works out fine. |

I think they philosophy on it is that unless you have an elite 1C, a great defensive system can make any goalie look good. |
