I was a D1 varsity athlete for 4 years and I didn't get a dime. I lived with guys from the wrestling team and our neighbors played football.. it used to infuriate me to hear about salary/pay beyond scholarship because I knew how hard those guys worked, and I worked harder.. but this is false. The NCAA is the problem with all of this. They are a regulatory body that doesn't regulate. If they enforced the rules, half of every basketball or football team would be ineligible, so they ensure the on-field product is good and take their cut.

Burn the NCAA to the ground. I will die on this hill.

NCAA is a joke. Our college system is not far behind. I went to Marquette for undergrad and DePaul for law school. Both schools have huge amounts of cash on hand and continue to buy up real estate and build multi-million dollar developments. These are supposed to be not-for-profit corporations.

Most ordinary students pay 40k plus in tuition to get a degree that really has little value in the work place. Meanwhile colleges just keep getting richer.

Maybe a year? The going rate for a reasonable 4 year program which takes 5 years to complete is about $100k. If the kid takes college loans out sorry kid you only have 2 options, pay it off or die with it on your record

Correct. I meant per year!

Good for the kids being able to make money in college sports now.

College football is still a complete monopoly because kids have no choice but to go to college if they want to see the NFL.

Think about the NHL if the NCAA had been able to monopolize hockey! No major junior programs. Mandatory requirement to attend college.

I am glad the NBA G League is getting really good kids out of high school now. The one and done is pointless.

Makes me happy seeing the NCAA lose its stranglehold on young athletes.

Makes me happy to. It's amazing they were able to get away with it as long as they did, it goes to show how powerful money is.

Impossible to call them "Student Athletes" when a coach can make $10M a year off their backs.
