There are garbage hockey players from Canada, but the best players are also from Canada
- TheMussel

Quebecois propaganda.

They like to think they do everything better than the rest Canada.

I s’pose they knit the best toques, and are the best at portaging, too?

If there was another province that primarily spoke French, they would speak it better than Quebec.

Western beef is supposed to be better because of the different nutrients in the soil that grows the vegetation that the cattle feed on, or something like that. I had it explained to me when I worked as a butcher but I can’t remember exactly.
- shack67

No no, as soon as a cow walks across into BC or SK, the meat tastes like poop. Ask any Albertan.

But for real, AB is a huge landmass and the soil is different everywhere.

I don’t know if there’s any truth to it but apparently Alberta beef is considered better than eastern stuff. I know Alberta soil is nothing like you find here, have you ever tried to get it off your boots?

Nonsense.

They can’t do it without PEI potatoes, and canola oil from AB/SK.

It all comes down to who’s making it, assuming everyone has the same access to the ingredients.

KK is not guaranteed that the Canes will match his QO.

He also doesn't have a "strong" negotiating position unless he breaks out and has an outstanding season.

- mjones242

Yes, crafty Carolina could always pay a first and a third and $6.1M and then let him go to free agency. If he wants to play hardball consider:

1. Canes will not want to cut bait after one year and that big upfront payment. They don’t want to look stupid and will want to give him time unless he’s absolutely horrendous which would be surprising.

2 They know that he his no extension option is a second big paycheque unless they go nuclear which I don’t think is likely.

3. He can press that any long term deal provides sone degree of compensation for what he’s giving up in year two. An AAV of $4 might be worth 4.2 since he’s giving up $6.1 for one of those years.

Maybe they’re all in love and he’s so excited that they came for him he’ll sign whatever they put in front of him. But I don’t think the team is in a position to walk away and even trashing him in arbitration would be tough after the offer sheet. If it’s serious negotiations, he holds more cards.

I find it hard to believe, just western entitlement. They’re always female doging about being forgotten about so they make these false claims about having superior products. Like Taber corn. It’s nowhere near as good as peaches and cream from Ontario. Or their oil, it’s junk oil. Saudis and Venezuelans have far better oil.

There are some places where beef is just plain better than others, but that’s mostly in areas of Japan that have raised them for thousands of years. There are some spots in Australia that are spectacular as well.

The one argument for a type of food that is just plain better in certain locations, is seafood.

But I think every province makes claims like that about something or other. Just ask Zezel, the Leafs are the best.

Best steak I ever ate was in Argentina. Those crazy (frank)ers love cow. Go into a restaurant at lunch, everyone is eating a steak the size of the table. Then it’s siesta time. Go back to work at 2 or 3 and eat dinner at 9:30 or 10. When we went to Beunos Aires, we went out at 8 for dinner and nothing was open. We thought we had missed everything.

The Kobe and Wagyu thing is overrated IMO

Walleye and trout cooked on shore is one of my favourite Ontario meals. Or one time my dad shot a grouse and fried it, or fried smelts. Also Ontario fiddleheads, garlic, tomatoes, blueberries, peaches...lots of good produce here.

The world's best mustard Kozlik's is from Toronto. Fun fact Canada produces most ofvthe world's mustard

I was thinking more so along the lines of base food such as meat, seafood, chicken, etc. Not necessarily a style of food, but yeah, for creole you got limited options for the real stuff and it’s dynamite

Fact: Saskatchewan produces 80% (likely more) of Canada’s mustard.

Also, I live in the land of walleye and trout being up in the far north. I’ve been eating quite a bit of walleye lately, I’m hoping to dial in my trout game this winter.

I forgot about Argentina. Brazil does a wonderful job too. Picanha is to die for.

I don’t think Kobe or Wagyu is overrated. It honestly depends on where you get it and how it’s prepared. If you’ve ordered it out as opposed to directly sourcing it, than yeah, it’s overrated. If you buy it for a more reasonable (and that is very relative) price and know how to prepare it, than it is wonderful. Also, the term Kobe or Wagyu is in no way regulated, so people slap those labels all over the place and in reality it is not the real deal.

KK has a higher ceiling, is only 21 years old, and I imagine has already had some wink-wink, nudge-nudge extension talks with the Canes.

I don't think MTL looks "bad" in this scenario, but I think they aren't improved.

- mjones242

I’m glad KK is out of Montreal. I think he’s going to be a real good player. He looks to me like a guy who when he puts more size he’s gonna be a force.

Apparently the 2 teams were engaged in trade talks leading up to the offer sheet. I wonder what the canes were offering.

Yeah Sask produces a large portion of the world's lentils.
