You disagree with them getting burned or on the reason it's ridiculous? Carolina got what they wanted. The Habs didn't get what they wanted and lost a young C for far below market value on another team's terms. No spinning this as anything short of a loss and embarrassment but I look forward to all the lipstick that'll be applied to the contingency plans

Because it succeeded and you're bitter MB and the Habs got played and lost badly?
- Takemedrunkimhome

Lol, because the contract was absurdly bloated and I'd have rather kept him to see his potential at sensible value. I see it more as a loss for both teams. You sound alot more bitter than me.

pretty sure Bergevin will move

he's better at trading than drafting anyway

the mistake was to draft him 3rd overall, not to let him walk for a 1st and a 3rd.

Yeah, agreed.

they didn't get burned at all. they got a 1st and a 3rd for a below average 3rd liner. (as of today). for the future we'll see.
they made a bad pick at the draft 3 years ago, not a bad move today.

imo CAR expected MB to match. THEY got (frank)ed today, not the Habs.

Sure. I also know:
They got burned by an angry opponent.
They were made to look comically weak.
They're left in shambles a week before the season

And you and everybody knows it. The rest is spin

Keep the picks and keep building. One year away from a new GM who doesn't think their window is Price and Weber's careers. No crazy moves until then please. Who knows maybe Carolina doesn't do so well this year and the habs end up with two top ten picks.

Canadiens will not match Hurricanes’ (in headline)offer for Kotkaniemi

The Montreal Canadiens have matched t(first line)he Carolina Hurricanes’ offer sheet to Jesperi Kotkaniemi, keeping the centre on a one-year, $6.1 million contract.
