I was just reading it this morning. Pronman is a bit of a hack, just thought I'd share.

I've come to view them all about the same. Robinson, Steve K., Pronman, Wheeler etc etc. They all have the few kids they like a little more and a few kids they like a little less. I don't think anyone is actually better than another for rankings.

I find it best to get a consensus of all their work and when I do mine it's a consideration of all their work with minor tweaks. With of course the usual single player or two that I rank a bit higher. I obviously have to take my swing at least once.

One of Jim's quotes from drafting Gunnarsson "I think he's going to play". I feel like that is a staple in a lot of Jim's picks. Which I guess isn't bad thing but it's higher floor lower ceiling guys. Just the floor isn't 4th line and the ceiling isn't top 6 which leaves little room for the players. The Sea of Granlund types.

That's why I don't mind a pick like Klimovich because it's a more boom or bust once in a while.

It's common knowledge in Canuck nation. But not sure what a flat earther Flames fan considers credible....?
- NuckUp

So not fact?
Or maybe it was a nice change for Bo after being saddled with crappy wingers for so long. Made Pearson look golden.

I listen to Pronman on the Athletic Hockey Show podcast regularly, and while I wouldn’t suggest he is an eloquent speaker, I think you lose some of the context in written rankings. He spends more time talking about the reasons he likes one attribute, or player etc, and acknowledges that watching a bunch of tape doesn’t always give you a real understanding of the player.

Creating a ranking is always going to ruffle some feathers for people with different opinions, which is fine.

NHL Pipeline Rankings: As Sabres top the Senators and Canes, the best cores of prospects and under-23 players

Corey Pronman Sep 2, 2021

Welcome to The Athletic’s 2021-22 edition of the NHL Pipeline Rankings where we look at the future of the NHL, team by team.

Every team will have a full ranking of the best young players in its organization with a projection of what is expected of each. Then those core groups are ranked from 1 to 32, so show how each compares to the rest of the league.

Player eligibility is determined by age. A player is eligible if they are 22 years of age or younger as of Sept. 15, 2021. This encompasses almost every prospect selected between the 2017 and 2021 NHL drafts. This is used to include a team’s top prospects, without aggressively graduating players who have a lot of prime development years ahead of them, even if they are already in the NHL.

Full individual evaluations of all players with tool grades and tiers that can be applied across all teams are found within each team’s ranking of its own players.

The rollout will be quicker than in past years due to the abbreviated offseason, with all the files being posted this week.

And now for the rankings:

1. Buffalo Sabres

2. Ottawa Senators

3. Carolina Hurricanes

4. New York Rangers

5. Los Angeles Kings

6. New Jersey Devils

7. Vancouver Canucks

8. Colorado Avalanche

9. Detroit Red Wings

10. Anaheim Ducks

11. Montreal Canadiens

12. Dallas Stars

13. Columbus Blue Jackets

14. Arizona Coyotes

15. Minnesota Wild

16. Nashville Predators

17. Philadelphia Flyers

18. Florida Panthers

19. Vegas Golden Knights

20. Winnipeg Jets

21. Toronto Maple Leafs

22. San Jose Sharks

23. Chicago Blackhawks

24. St. Louis Blues

25. Edmonton Oilers

26. Calgary Flames

27. New York Islanders

28. Washington Capitals

29. Boston Bruins

30. Tampa Bay Lightning

31. Pittsburgh Penguins

32. Seattle Kraken

---------------------------------------------------

Vancouver has a very top-heavy ranking, led by two true star-level NHL players in Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes. The high ranking is mostly due to them given the system isn’t overly deep, but there have been some solid picks outside the first round, like Nils Hoglander and Mikey DiPietro, which stretches the system out a bit.

Key graduates: Olli Juolevi

Key additions: Danila Klimovich

2020 Ranking: No. 3

2021 NHL Draft grade: D

Fair assessment. Teams near the top have generally finished near the bottom of the pack for many years, while team near the bottom have had success for many years. There are some exceptions of course, Oilers jump out with all their 1st oa, Flames have been consistently mediocre for so long.

Let's hope some big time Canadian players say no to China. Sometimes you have to take a stand.

It should be up to the IOC to disqualify a nation over human rights issues not on specific athletes who have a narrow window of opportunity.

It also I think comes down to understanding what a person is seeing when they are watching whether it's video or live.

They suspended Russia for doping and they just changed their name and sent the same people anyways

Exactly, Calgary has never picked top 3 in a draft and has made just enough moves to finish 12- 18th consistently. Not the best plan for success.

We've seen that rarely happens. Human rights issues hardly ever play a factor in this.
But wouldn't it be nice if our stars said fuk China and their Olympics?

Mow your lawn while they're filming. They will pay you to stop.

A stand to accomplish what? And at what cost? Don't get me wrong, the idea and sentiment is completely valid and noble. But for all the athletes that trained their entire lives/years for a shot at the Olympics - only for it to be held in a country that POTENTIALLY goes against their personal beliefs is completely unique to each their own. So to say in a blanket statement "boycott the Olympics" is ridiculous.

Wouldn't a stronger statement be to go to the Olympics and whatever cause you're standing up against, make it known THERE, on their soil - that's a way bigger "fawk you" to China.

Poor millionaire hockey players may not win a gold medal from a corrupt sports institution.
