Between him and tuomaala I am hoping to see some pucks hit the back of some nets
It's been way too long since we have last had a sniper like these kids
Allison may have the best of the 3, too - Bob Habib
Yes. Just wish they were drafted 4 years ago. I want the benefits now. |

Jake has 3 yrs at 8.3 Cap Hit = 24.9..Cam has 4 years at 5.9= 23.6..again Fletch didnt pull anything off traded for player with same total CAP HIT...like I said I like the trade wanted Jake out but it was not something that Fletch pulled off it was an equal deal. - hfc355
Ok fuzzy math, got it |

Maybe he's happy with the one-time windfall for now and he wants to be a Cane.
Going year by year on QOs is a bit dangerous for the player. If his career arc goes awry he could end up really gimping career earnings or end up traded to somewhere he doesn't want to be. - Tomahawk

The Cap Hit is 8.25 x3 for Jake....5.875 x 4 for Atkinson....23.6 vs 24.9 - hfc355
But we’re fans. Total doesn’t matter to us, as we don’t cut the checks.
What we care about is the yearly hit against the cap, because that’s what effects their spending power.
I mean, we might care if one was a single year deal whilst the other had 5 left, but the difference here is just a year, and it helps their yearly cap hit quite a bit.
Seriously, how is this difficult |

I do too but the youth we have coming up is pretty nice to see! I haven't seen us this stocked up on talent awaiting their NHL debuts.
I've said it before but I will say it again... I am really excited about this upcoming season! |

You’re assuming he becomes a ufa. Plenty of time to sign. - Peter Richards
You are incorrect. I'm not assuming anything. I'm looking at the facts. The fact is that Ristolainen is in the final year of his current contract and he will be a UFA. That means whether he actually becomes a UFA or signs a deal before that, he still has UFA leverage in negotiations. |

You are right about going year to year on QO's. My point though is that he's not going to give up that 6M a year for a two year deal at a lesser salary. I would think they'd have to go at least 5 years to get him off of that. Although a 4 year deal would leave him as an expiring UFA so that might be attractive also.

Actually more pressure on JK than one might think. He is most certainly not worth his cap hit, and may never be worth that. If he doesn't have a very good year I think teams, including the Canes, would be hard pressed to qualify him at that number just to be overpaid again. He needs to look like he will be worth it in the long run. He ain't there yet imo, not even close.

He's got a lot of upside tho. More upside and (track record) than Ryan Kesler did when Clarke put out that OS. People were losing their poop at the time because the Flyers offered a "lot" of coin to an unproven 4C, driving up salaries, etc. In hindsight, the Flyers should have offered twice as much to make matching impossible. Kesler would have been worth it. |

So the concern is overpayment. We will see when he gets signed. I would imagine he will be. 8 yes 54 mil is my guess. |

Yeah, it represented about 4% of the cap back then. Today 4% would be ~$3.5M. |

Signing Ristolainen to an 8 year deal will be a nightmare. The concern is that the Flyers traded a valuable package to acquire a player who has been mediocre for his entire career and is not cost controlled. |

Well we shall find out within a year.
What do you think about the ghost deal then. |

How creative can the forward lines be constructed?
Farabee - Coots - TK
JVR - Hayes - Atkinson
G - Brassard - Allison
Lindblom/Laughton - Thompson - Frost/NAK
Laughton/Lindblom traded for picks?
NAK or Thompson 13th F?

How many 4th line $3M LW's can one team have with the cap flat and the raises happening next season?

A lot of good those number 2 overall picks did us lol. We’re done stocking the (frank)in cupboards. I wanna see this team win. Anything can happen if they make it to the playoffs |

What did you think an off-season to tweak the 2009-2010 SCF losers would bring after the game 6 loss to Chicago?
Probably not a popular decision…wait & see what OL does. I bought the t-shirt for Oscar Strong (obviously the least I could do). I think the world of him as a person (definitely a fighter that I look up to in every way imaginable when push comes to shove in trying times), but I look to see what he can do this season. He could bounce back and be every much the 200’, goal scoring winger he was before being diagnosed…or the player that looked tired during a condensed schedule last year. That could be a way to free cap…TK could potentially not be in long term plans. Like both individual players, but Flyers have numerous ways to go |

what signs? - hello it's me 2050
The deals Fletcher is making and how the cap is shaping up next year for the Flyers. We know Fletcher is resigning Risto and depending on the season he has he will get some sort of a raise and good term. We also know Fletcher will need to sign another veteran backup goalie for Hart, as well as a few veterans for depth as he did this off season. There will not be a lot of money left for G unless he wants to stay and is willing to take less AAV to do so. |

What did he pull off?? Traded Jake for Atkinson which was basically the same $$ amount with the extra yr . No ones gonna take JVR at 7M Cap Hit even for 1 year without the Flyers paying or taking on a similar contract....he paid to have someone take Ghost off his hands..missing what he Pulled Off?? - hfc355
Fletcher gained $2.5M is AAV in the Jake deal, and traded Ghost's salary without taking any salary back. I think Fletcher did a masterful job of cap mgmt this off season and he will need to do it again next season. JVR is still a good player that can give a team 25+ goals in a season, thus for 1 year there will be a few contending teams that would take him even at his salary. |

Why would he want to leave? He has a home in the area! - Scoob
I didn't say G wants to leave, in fact I stated the opposite, that he wants to be here. However the reality is the Flyers will not have the cap space to give G a market deal for his next contract, thus he will have to agree to a team friendly deal to stay. |

Who says they are full time 4th line players? Laughton and Lindblom, if he regains his strength and gets back to where he was, are both much better than 4th line players. Hey but sure, let's keep 34 year old Derek Brassard who is on a one year deal and trade a player in his prime. Makes perfect sense. |
