I know its just a development camp, but its really nice to see Foerster leading this Orange team to winning the 3 on 3 tourney. He has the potential to be that 40+ goal scoring sniper this team desperately needs. |

On another note... Who is everyone most excited to keep an eye on on rookie camp?
There are some sleeper and dark horse kids I hope to see do well.
I like the destroyer. I want to see him do well.
Allison looks like the real deal. It's nice to see him healthy now - Bob Habib

So they traded a 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick and an NHL defenseman for a player so they can see if he is a good fit? - MJL
He is good fit on paper. Doesn't mean it will be on the ice.
What they paid for his services are irrelevant at this point. Sunk cost.

So next season, the Farabee signing leaves the Flyers with 15.5M to re-sign Giroux, a backup goalie. 4 defenseman spots including Ristolainen and 4 forward spots. They almost have to find a way to move JVR. - MJL
Yes, JVR has to be moved which with only 1 year left on his deal should be easy to do given what Fletcher pulled off this off season. |

though there will likely be some salary coming back imo. Be shocked they clear the entire cap hit unless assets added.

They also signed Selke early and that turned out. They signed Simmonds and that was a steal. If K goes back to his old form that will be fine as well.
Farabee showed he is a leader and obviously is a 5 tool player. Just needs to keep adding a few pds each off-season and he will be spectacular.
Allison, Frost, Foerster should help them move on from JVR and even G. - Joe Nardone
All signs point to G having to take a very team friendly deal in order to stay here. |

Yep, Ristolainen will not doubt get a raise on is next deal. That is the pickle that the Flyers have put themselves in. - MJL
If he likes it here and feels the Flyers are close to a cup, don't underestimate the possibility Risto stays on with a team friendly deal also. |

I haven't see much of the kid play but from what I have seen and what I've read about him, I believe he already has a top 6 caliber NHL shot. If he can bring the rest of his game to the NHL level, could be a hell of a player.

A lot depends on how JVR plays this season.

I always look at it if a team is going to pay a player a certain salary then that is what he is worth. - MJL

Risto is far above Murphy’s price range. If he has a great year then he gets 7. Good prob to have - Joe Nardone
I think he is comparable to Colton however |

Yes, I am rooting for him to have a nice 30 goal season, that would help things immensely. |

JVR is one of the few players who has played well over the last 2 seasons, actually improved in some respects. The Cap is 7 but I believe real dollars are 5.5 . He puts up 25 and play the same way he did last year, they should be able to move him without a big issue. its a long shot but if Allison or another do well on the PP, you could see JVR moved at the deadline. Long shot because I assume the Flyers will be in the race. if they are not in the race 1/2 of this board will be happy with the fire sale of vets at the deadline

kotkaniemi, makes farabee look like a steal - bradster
That was the # to get him out of Montreal. Word is the Canes have already discussed an extension which would be a more reasonable AAV.
Let's not use KK as a comparison for Farabee please. |

I don't recall at the time of the draft there being any mention of NoPa being a subpar skater, but there should have been concerns. - backfire
There was mention at the time that his stride wasn't ideal, hunched over. Something that was fixable but not a deal breaker. |

I don't know why KK would do that. The only reason is for some long term security but I would have to have a pretty long deal to give up the locked in 6M a year salary.

So they traded a 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick and an NHL defenseman for a player so they can see if he is a good fit? - MJL
What? I’m talking about him and his contract, if he plays well and fits with the team I could see him taking a discount to stay. And when I say discount, a similar contract to what he’s on, or slightly lower. |
