Completely agree. Pelle was a superior talent and a great goalie. There is a reason that he won the vezina and it was not because he was some average scrub. - Hextall271
If you look at the best goaltender of the last 35 years imo Patrick Roy, even his first 3 years (1985-1987) in the NHL he posted .875, .891, .900 save %'s. Definitely the era was conducive to a lot of goals being scored. |

Very true, in the 80's a .890 save % was considered good. |

Back then, Fuhr was widely recognized as a top goalie if not the best. Hearing Gretz and Sather talk about his game, it's not that he would be able to produce great stats etc. Goals would get scored, but he would always come up with the big timely save and would hold the fort as the run and gun oilers played pond hockey. That was the style of the game back then. |

Fuhr was a lot like Billy Smith IMO, when the games came down to crunch time, they both knew how to shut it down. |

Exactly. Fuhr played to the scoreboard. If the Oilers were blowing a team out which was routine in those days, he'd give up a few soft goals, if they were in a white knuckler he'd always come up with the big save when they needed it. |

Prospects look great so far. Early indications are Allison and Laczynski have the inside track to make the Flyers out of the gate. Interesting to also see Ghost practicing at the Skate Zone wearing his Coyotes gear. - jd250
How would anyone have the inside track so far? It’s a development camp...irrelevant until the actual camp starts |

True, but we have to think that at least Allison, based on what he did last season, has a spot to lose.

I don’t think any of those young guys have a spot to lose, if anything they all need to win a spot in the lineup. I doubt any favorites will be played among them. |

I agree no favorites. But I also think that it is Allison that will need to be beaten out by another player. At least that is the way it should be.

Farabee-Hayes-Atkinson
Jvr-Frost-Laughton
Lindblom-Brassard-Alison
This would be my ideal lineup opening night. Not sure what has to happen to NAK to make this happen.

Looks pretty good. Not sure if I would want Frost starting at 3c after missing a whole season. I would prefer he start in the AHL but if he takes the spot so be it.

Yea, I could see that scenario playing out as well. I think Alison has some grit to his game and could work on the fourth line. |

So who's the enforcer? If some one goes after a player who jumps in?
You definitely need 1 in the line up.. so teams don't take liberty

Completely agree. I think Frost will likely need A time, but expect him up this season. Can't see him getting that 3C off the hop but I've been wrong before. |

Is there even an enforcer in the organization outside of Morin? |
|
|
|
Yes, so I think NAK and Frost do not make the team to start the season, so the 13 forwards are:
Giroux, Couts, TK, JVR, Atkinson, Hayes, Farabee, Laughton, Brassard, Thompson, Lindblom, Allison and Laczynski - jd250
Take out Tanner imo.

looking at the goalie equipment then and now is insane really. Had to be nuts to be a goalie decades ago. |

Hope they send Sam down to play on phantoms. He still needs reps and games. Not sure him being the 7th helps him at all.

I think you still have to be a bit nuts, but back then you also had to be a glutton for pain. I still can't fathom how you could play without a mask. |

If Sam is in the A, who do we bring up as the 7th I wonder? |

I believe there is 0 chance Frost makes the team, Fletcher has already stated they are taking the long term approach with Frost. Brassard will have 3C and Thompson and Laczynski will share 4C duty. |

That would be fine IMO in view of Frost missing most of last year. |

not so much nuts today imo as you are so very well protected you rarely feel anything.
Yes agree with the pain. No mask was always odd seeing catchers in baseball had a mask. |

I am sure one of those AHL vets they signed can sit the bench. Any long term injury then they call up someone else like York Morin Zamula.
