The idea of taking the picks and then adding them to a trade package for Eichel is all over Twitter.

Outside of Caufield and Suzuki, Montreal has nothing that interests me

An RFA with a $6.1M QO next offseason.

If Montreal matches, they are over the offseason LTIR cap?

We don't really have to guess at their value now. Chi and Bos clearly stated it.

When you look at the roster KA inherited and the roster now, I find it very hard to defend KA. He flat out squandered a lot of value.

- Lunaion

You're acting like kagm took over after the last regime won repeated cups.

The roster is / was flawed.

Kagm signed the 2018 nhl mvp. Convinced him to win a cup with jack eichel. 1 of his 1st moves.
Turned that free agent signing into bjork and a 2nd at the tdl and dumped larry lazar.

He just traded 2 guys that would would have been pending free agents for 5 pieces, including. (2) 1sts.

He Signed some other cheap players that could be moved at the deadline.

Butcher and a 5th . Seems like we got 2 assets for $.
Butcher at the deadline could bring a 2nd or 3rd.

I'm looking forward and optimistic after this season.

Well depends on what stage fusion on mobility and wish we knew how bad the herniation was it could just be a little piece that has given away. I have a hard time putting my head around Dr. Cappuccino saying No to that Surgery unless he doesn't think it needs to be done, the guy does now everything about TDR.
- Buff36

If it was just a small herniation they would do a micro disc on him. He has gone past that and prob has central and foraminal stenosis.

And taking another 20+ first in an Eichel deal is meh too. The Habs pick piques my interest though. But without a big piece coming too not interested.

Wouldn't an actually quality GM have a plan of action that involves something more immediate then I need a year to see all the players up close before deciding on anything?

I'd sure as hell hope so.

- kingcong39

I'd rather a GM get to see the players and how they interact with the trainers, coaches and teammates.

See how they train, how they lift. Their true commitment to their teammates and the organization.

Then give out long term deals.

Tmgm came in with an immediate plan ☝️

I think they had a plan and knew Sam was a goner and that is why they went wing in last year's draft when they took Jack Quinn. Either they weren't big on him and Skinner as their top wingers going on or knew Sam was not going to re-sign.

Two 2022 firsts Suzuki and a prospect both firsts unprotected and I would pull the trigger.

I don't think with them losing Kotkaniemi they would give up Suzuki for Jack. They would be really thin at center then. Maybe they would want to tank, trade Suzuki, take an injured Jack and have him out for a lot of the year and take a chance on getting one of the top three in next year's draft, otherwise, I don't think they trade Suzuki.

The point I'm trying to make is they had no plan and instead were flying by the seat of their pants while hoping it worked.
- kingcong39

They had a plan :

Gear up the veterans with NHL experience and push to keep eichel by winning.

Sign a league mvp
Trade for stahl ( cup winner)
Sign reider
Sign cody. Eakin.

Plan B
Don't sign anyone long term that is going to prevent you from losing for wright.
Sign great 28, cody. Eakin. Tage

Why keep anyone that prevents losing?

Why trade eichel for assets that help winning?

You mean then get rid of them all?

He turned Sam, Montour, Ullmark, Hall, Risto, and McCabe essentially into draft picks. He's almost finished the job of selling the veteran core of this team for pennies on the dollar.

KA was an internal hire. I find it inexcusable.

Not a Doctor, just now a little bit about them cause I have had neck fusion surgery, and most say it worked very well. But I studied both fusion and Disc Replacement and went with the fusion surgery cause the disc replacement scared me if certain things happened because of what I did for work, didn't need that disc popping out during a build could have killed me or my build team.

That's a major difference between you and I, as I didn't think they were a playoff team with the moves they made last offseason.

I really don’t have interest in him at all. If Montreal doesn’t match the Habs would get a 1st and 3rd from Carolina. He would still be a RFA as well.
- Stripes77

Thank you 👍

I'm the king of bad takes. 😀

I like him. I could see him with either caufield or Suzuki. And a 1st / cap dump / Eichel retain salary deal

That would be a bold move by the Dolphins especially since they wouldn’t have a QB to start this season. There has to be a suspension coming for Watson.

My guess is Houston holds on to him while he serves his suspension and is traded in the off season.

- Stripes77

It would be nothing short of a heist by Caserio if he could unload Watson now. Even for an unproven prospect like Tua.

What bothers me is that it was a 1 year plan. Even if it worked, they created significant problems for themselves. It's the kind of plan you see on cap friendly.

You’re probably right with that. But if I’m Buffalo that’s what I would want to trade him in the division.

This is an excellent debate and I appreciate your opinion.

The pegula's run the buffalo Bill's.

I went to the game today. I havent been this excited about the Bill's in decades.

The pegula's are the same people who hired McDermott and Beane. Separately.

They shouldn't be faulted for hiring someone they trust.
Kagm just hired an associate gm

Looks kinda familiar to me. They want a great human being and organizer to report to them. Kagm fits that profile. I like him. Buffalo guy as well.

I am pretty sure there are reported cases with that happening on the lumbar disc replacement side. But I don't think there has been something like that reported for the cervical disc he is looking at having implemented.

I am not saying which surgery he should have. I just happen to be in that industry and trying to provide some clarity on things for you guys. I do have an opinion on what I would probably do if that was me, however. I just have seen some things in this thread I wanted to help with.

That's fair. I'm definitely a homer. ☝️

Eichel was coming off a break thru top 10 mvp season.
They add a former mvp
Former 40 goal scorer in skimmer hopefully bounced back.
Ullmark looked like he could break thru.

They added 4 veteran forwards. (Out of 12) 1/3 new faces.

I appreciate your positivity towards the Pegulas. But they were also the same people who hired Murray, Lafontaine, Botterill, Disco Dan, Ralph, Housley, and Rex Ryan…

The Pegulas hired McDermott and from my understanding he was pushing for Beane to be hired.

You win some, you lose some. It definitely is pretty special when it all comes together though. I really missed that the last decade or so lol
