Would you rather pay 2mm a year for the next 5 years to get a significantly better return, for a total of 10mm, or pay him 7.5mm in one shot for his bonus and then trade him after?

Technically you would “save” 2.5mm over 5 years, but paying him 7.5mm in one shot and then trading him, while not increasing his value since you don’t retain salary, may be viewed just as negatively.

Isn’t Buffalo significantly far aware from the salary cap floor currently though? Like 7mm or so? So if you traded Eichel and didn’t really get back any NHL players making money, you’d be 17mm away from the floor?

There are 3 RHD that will go in the top 10 of next years draft, or at least are projected to.

If they miss out on Wright they can find a RHD at the top of the draft next year.

If you can get Vegas to give up Krebs if we lower the quantity of assets coming back I do that in a heart beat. At least with Cozens/Krebs/Mitts you have at the very least 3 competent guys that can play the middle.

I never saw Buchnevich as a top line forward.

His age and box score ability is relatable to Sam. As the trade market showed, Sam is worth more, having the ability to play center and having marginally better stats and being a year younger.

I have come to terms that you guys wouldn’t like any package from the rangers.

Obviously Laf and Fox are non starters.

I think maybe Kakko + Chytil + Nils + 1st is the only maybe realistic offer the rangers would be able to go up to, but not sure if that even remotely interests you.

Sam is one year younger and has five 20 goal seasons vs Buch’s two

Every time I quickly glance at your profile pic, I think it's Cole Beasley. Not sure why... hair and blue jersey I guess.

i'd consider sam a top-line winger...the jury's out on whether he's a top-line center but he looks like he could be a very good no. 2

I think that’s a very fair offer and trade for both teams.

swap k'andre miller for chytil...that would work for me...

i'd call it a solid return for buffalo while they'd be calling it a steal in the big apple (and through much of the nhl)

I’ve already said my case on that.

The fact that we can’t get anything for Jack and that Tarasenko and Kuznetsov are still with their respective teams also says a lot about the market for forwards

Teams were worried about arbitration eligible RFAs with a stagnant(ish) cap

It's actually the EXACT package GMKA asked for.

Four "1st round picks", and that offer has three players that were 1st rounders and a 1st round pick as well

We are practically on the same page Hank but I set up my defense pairs based on I didn't think Henri jokiharju should be paired with dahlin. He needed a stronger Defender. I put Robert Hagg in there in large part because I wasn't sure what we're getting from him I'm not too familiar. I posted this on Sabres Mafia yesterday and yes I caught a lot of Hell about Thompson but my reply was give it till November 1st if not the end of training camp to prove me right. Unless Thompson start using his size to his advantage this is my prediction

Bjork cozens hinostroza
Olafsson mittlestadt ruotsalainen
Skinner girgenson okposo
Asplund Eakin Hayden
SCRATCH Thompson caguilla
D
Dahlin miller
Butcher pysyk
Hagg jokiharju
SCRATCH Bryson/Samuelson.camp loser ahl
G
dell/tokarski/upl
Anderson
Losers for g1 go to rochester.
Sign dubnyk? Only FA left

I only made one tiny at it and that was to add Samuelson to my scratches because I actually forgot all about him

Probably be top line winger in FL, at least to start. But Q likes to mix things up, so we’ll see how they line up opening night.
Verhaeghe-Barkov-Reinhart
Huberdeau-Bennett-Duclair (maybe Tippett).

The opinions here vary so widely on Samson, I can’t wait to see him play and see which player he is.

i liked to call him "the quiet one"...it doesn't seem like he's doing much but next thing you know he's hitting the stat sheet for two or three points
