Teply is apparently returning to Winnipeg (WHL) for next season. Clears up the logjam a little. Wonder if Krutil will go back to the WHL also.

I just heard on the radio Jimmy Hayes passed away but can’t find anything online. Has anyone heard this?

Found it

It's being widely reported now. Cause of death is unknown. Leaves behind a wife and two kids.

Sad.

Will Bettman finally make a correct decision and just dissolve the Arizona franchise when they loose their building?

Let the players become free agents once the season ends.

Theo. Thanks for the time you put into sharing all this information. Your work ethic is top notch and you keep the content rolling. Great job!

It was interesting but not unexpected to see Ian Mitchell's name coming up often in the info you shared from the Hawks. Seems likely that Mitchell was a part of why the Hawks were willing to part with Boqvist. I am curious to see what he brings to the table when camp rolls around.

I'm excited to see what the Hawks can do with this roster and with a healthy Toews back in the fold. I know there are questions about his return, but I look back to the video Toews shared on June 30th and all he did was talk about his issues being past tense. He talked about being back in a normal routine. I think we might see him have a great year if he is truly past this issue that was a problem for a while. Sure he could have a setback, but I guess we have to wait and see.

- breadbag

Thanks, this blog was literally a data dump as I have a prospects spreadsheet that I keep and constantly update with this information so it was a simple cut and paste for the most part.

With the decision to part ways with Boqvist and keep developing Mitchell, it's somewhat similar to the crossroad the team was at with Jokiharju, i.e. who is worth developing and who to cut losses with.

Boqvist had question marks about his durability and endurance. Jokiharju had red flags about his attitude regarding the organization wanting him to strengthen his defensive game where he and/or possibly his dad said he was fine in that area.

If these are both true, then trade them for what you can get and invest in those prospects who are willing to put in the work to improve.

For Boqvist at least, he didn't have an attitude problem but just needed a different training regimen that may or may not have been enough to address his areas of concern.

Thanks for the update on Teply. I hadn't read that anywhere but when I checked out the Elite Prospects website, he is listed as playing for the Winnipeg Ice this season as you pointed out.

As for Krutil, he is on an AHL contract so he will be with the Hogs rather than in juniors with the Kelowna Rockets who hold his rights.

Honestly, Krutil should be in juniors. He was way in over his head in the pros last year and can't see this season being a major step up.

There's a group out of Houston trying to convince them to relocate there. I'm sure that ice will be just fabulous.

I've tried to synthesize a "total" coaching system impact but as always I'm more interested in measuring how players and coaches affect individual parts of the game more than I am in making a ranking.

Only if they could then add a new team with at least another 650 m fee

Fantastic work and effort on that list. I only have one issue with it. Cale Morris. That kid is elite. After Fleury is gone, Morris is going to be gunning for Lankinen's job. Being a AHL-NHL Tweener could not be more wrong about that guy. His potential is starter at bare minimum, but I'm thinking more on the elite side.

Legally I'm not sure how it happens without buying the current owners out?

I may be singing a different tune about Morris after the end of this season in Rockford bumping him from AHL/NHL tweener to having a steady job in the NHL as a solid backup or starter.

Just curious (no snark), what makes you think he is elite? I could totally be off with my outlook on him so always interested to learn more about what others think about any prospect.

New blog! A look at a few rumors circulating that may or may not be tied to the Blackhawks but are some food for thought during this slow stretch of the offseason.

Rumored players: Dylan Strome, Sean Monahan, James van Riemsdyk, and Travis Konecny.
