Orr was & always will be best imo til someone new changes my mind.

He's up there for sure. I'd say It's him or Orr. But saying Orr didn't play in his own end. People had the same criticism of Erik Karlsson, and it was never that he couldn't play in his own end. It was that he was so good that he didn't have too, so I'm not sure that's a fair point to make.

Where I would say a compelling argument for Orr being the best of all time. Is that he simply dominated games. It was his game on the ice and everyone else was just kind of there. No one has gotten to that level.

It's also quite hard to compare different decades.

I do think they should give the Norris to the best D and create a new Orr trophy for the most offensive D

Karlsson is more Coffey & not close to Orr. Orr could & did play in his own end.

Some interesting thoughts in post. Since i think orr is best player ever have to disagree. Would also put lidstrom ,potvin ,robinson ahead for sure. pronger is part of next group park .bourque, neidermayer, savard, hedman few others . he definitely in top 15 ever.

You say Orr never played in his own end. Are you serious. Orr was as good defensively as he was offensively, that says a lot considering how good he was on offence. And Orr could take care of himself , he didn’t need to have someone fight his battles, although the entire Bruin team would happily and eagerly do it. Pronger was meaner and intimidated more. But he’s behind Orr everyday of the week. I would have no problem picking Pronger 2 CD. There now you have been told how it is Ek.

I don't know if Lidstrom is/was better than Pronger or Pronger better than Lidstrom but I had read once in the Team Reports in TSN that reviewed young, up-and-coming Dmen and they mentioned Lidstrom similar to Larry Murphy "but only slower."

I was a huge Pronger fan - but FACT (he was best all around dman??!!)
