A true number one goalie is no more important than a #1C, or #1D man. A standout goalie makes it easier to win with a less than stellar team out front, and a stellar team out front makes it easier to get by with a less than stellar netminder. IMO you’re more likely to win it all with a great team and average goalie than the other way around. You’d like to have it all obviously, but hard to do in a cap world. - Ogilthorpe2
True because an average goalie can be great over a short period a lot easier than an average team can be great in front of an elite goalie.
With the US not allowing Canadians into the country and Canada not allowing unvaccinated American citizens into Canada does that mean NHL players will require vaccinations? Elliott Friedman says the NHL requires all players, coaches etc to be vaccinated.
I don't consider him a generational talent so no - BetweenTheDots
It was ongoing joke a few years back. Some posters found all kinds of reasons why Crawford wasn’t very good. He was dismissed as not elite, only as good as Chris Osgood and only had good numbers due to playing behind a good team.
Really? After a preseason game? If he took anything more than "I did what was expected of me today" away from that then he should be smacked around for a while. Anyone getting their shorts in a twist about a preseason game needs their head examined.

JFC, when the Hawks begin their preseason half of this board will need their heads examined then!!
I hear you Lou, he was always over looked outside of Chi town.
Top 5 NHL Goalie in his prime - BetweenTheDots
ya, what a joke. CC#50 is an upper echelon goalie and some characteristics of elite:
make some huge saves when it counted, perform underpressure (playoffs) and to be consistent and healthy. And Corey was awesome in the Vancouver playoff series in 2011 which the Hawks almost pulled off a great comeback. And the 2015 cup - stellar. But we could have used those 2 OT saves in 2012 playoff series against AZ. But you can still say, it was a team in front of him, just look how well Emery played with the Hawks in 2013, then moved to Philly and he was not as good. BTW, another goalie that i thought was overrated and i do not understand the hype: Corey Schneider
Sorry, I like Mo’s version better, give me rock, country, blues, and motown and I’m all good.

I just went with the one that came first. The O.G.
I like all of those too, although good country is increasingly hard to find, as most of what comes out of Nashville these days is a pop-a-fied caricature of what country music is “supposed” to be.

I do get that its preseason, but they look like a completely unprepared dumpster fire.
who would of ever thought that Mitch might be better on the move - vabeachbear
Same...but I still can't help feeling both Nagy and Pace should be shown the door.
To your point about Mitch, there's not only Nagy's stubbornness in terms of trying to make him something he wasn't, but after having him for four years, you'd think the Bears would have a better idea of how to defend him.
And as far as Pace, the whole Teven Jenkins thing and tackle position's a mess. Fields' mobility should help keep him from getting killed but that hit he took yesterday looked pretty scary at first.
