The board is a comedy show lol, nothing new here lol, go out and get better support for hughes and petey just to get rid of them. Lol.
- Bettmanhatesus

It is just ridiculous, luckily management is clearly trying to lock them both in as the cornerstone players they are.

Yeah, I see my error now. Went to Cap Friendly and looked for myself. I’m glad. Hate those clauses and I hope they are removed during the next CBA.

Every day I lurk I hope you are removed from here. You are the sloppiest poster on here. Shame on you.

Unless the Canucks start the season without QH and EP, they are getting over paid. Not going to happen. Live with it.

this is why I like this place…an anonymous guy can get you all bothered to come out from lurking to throw a virtual punch.

There are a lot of (frank)ed up guys posting here, bloated is just one of many.

Demko took a bridge then a 5x5. Our most important player. Cockinson signed a fair deal. I doubt either deal was made to overpay unproven kids. I think it's a pattern that's emerging. Live with my balls.

Who really cares what they get paid?
- A_SteamingLombardi

Because if they get too much there won’t be anything left to sign this year’s cup winning 4th line C?

The answer has to be bridge deal. I look at some teams locking out their cap with long term high contracts in a flat cap era. Teams like Oilers Habs Avs are screwing themselves.

You can pay Petey and Hughes long term now and be comfortable this year and next . The problem comes on the third and fourth years when you need to sign Bo JTM Hoglander and others. Sign Petey for 7 x 3 and Hughes 6 x 3 and you can live comfortably.

Remember when big contracts were signed you had the cap jumping 3 mil a year. Next year it is going up a million and will be the only increase over the last three years.

I'd rather lock up petey long term and go bridge with Hughes. The benchmark for defenseman contracts right now is ridiculous. I'd rather go 8 on petey and 3 on Hughes.

I would not lock in Hughes long term if I had all the cap space in the world. I need to see more first.

Difference is those two players proved their contract whereas kids projected to be super stars get paid for what is yet to come. Live with it.

Also, demkos 5x5 Bridge was one of the highest "bridge/2nd contracts" amongst goalies ever. Shesterkin just got the most aav for a 2nd contract for a goalie ever at 5.65 aav x 4 years.

Demko in the end didn't really take a big cut on a bridge contract at all.

Yes he most certainly did. His bridge was 2 years @1.05mil per. The contract coming out of ELC. This is technically his 3rd.

The counter argument is you give Hughes a bridge deal, he continues to develop and then you end up on the hook paying him 11m++ a year.

Look at Nurse.
They could have locked him up long term for 7m last contract, but they bridged him and are now paying him 9.25m until he's 35.

Nurse is good, but i don't think he's a 10 ten Dman.

He was one of the best defensemen in the league this year, he’s paid very fairly in my opinion.

I was sarcastically responding from another morons comment... Like trying to compare a contract signed 4 years ago.... Just a complete lack of understanding of how this poop works.
