Attard was drafted at age 20 two years ago. He can be a free agent 30 days after NHL Central Registry receives official notice he is no longer a student. This is the way Kalynuk became a free agent.

I would think that the Flyers would want to sign Attard and that Attard would want to sign with the Flyers. It’s not like there are a bunch of other RHD prospects ahead of him on the depth chart. Flyers are much deeper on LD.

Looking at the Flyers best prospect list is not a comparable way of comparing the two GM's if that was your intent. I would hope the Flyers learned a lesson last year in rushing and elevating players too soon. I don't know what you mean by very soon for Zamula but I would bet he's at least 2 years away from being capable of assuming a top 4 spot in the NHL if not more.

My goal wasn't to compare the GMs, just to give Hextall some credit for some good things he did. I can be fair some times. :-)

I liked the way Zamula looked last year and I think by the end of this season he may become a mainstay in the Flyers lineup, even ahead of York. I also think he has the potential to be a top 4 defenseman, not this coming season, but possibly in 2023.

If O’Brien turns out to be a player what’s the chances he signs with the flyers after his college career?
- MrPerfect316

I have heard this concern a lot around here and am not sure why. I have not read or heard anything from O'Brien's camp that would indicate he does not want to sign with the Flyers, and I expect by the end of this 2021-22 college season, the Flyers will sign him and he will have a good chance to make the 2023 Flyers roster.

. I was mildly surprised that Attard didn’t come out after last season. He’s 22 and was NCHC defenseman of the year. It doesn’t seem like he has a lot left to prove at the NCAA level. You never know what a players priorities are. He could be seeking UFA status for numerous reasons. Hopefully the Flyers don’t let this one get away.

Hextall is a bum, we'd still be on his 12 yr plan if he was here. Glad he is gone. The worst thing he did besides some awful draft picks is trading Schenn for draft picks to build for the future. If that was the goal, he should have traded Couts and G at the same time. Makes no sense to go into a semi rebuild by trading HArtnell and Schenn and at the same time keeping G and Couts, wasting their prime years while trying to rebuild.

Also thought he would have left college. Maybe he just wants to chill a little and see how the Flyers and Phantoms d shakes out for 1 more year.

If he did leave wonder where he would slot at on the phantoms?

Attard is a decent prospect. A guy his size that can shoot from the point like him. Plus being RHD in the Philly system has to make sense for both Attard and the Flyers.

Interesting take on York and Zamula. While Zamula is tall he is frail. And not like Sanheim but like a rail. York is pretty strong kid. Both think the game pretty well. I just always thought of York higher in the chart talent wise. Zamula is older but I thought York looked better in his brief stint than Zamula. Just my take.

He doesn't. Clearly. Hextall didn't trade Schenn because he was trying to rebuild. He traded Schenn because the return of two first round picks was too good to turn down.

You should recall that while Schenn was here he really wasn't working out too well, not as a center anyway. It really didn't seem like Schenn was liked and part of the solution here which is why Hextall was open to trading him for 2 1st round picks. I also recall Hextall stating that everyone of his scouts wanted Frost, whereas if you recall his scouts were mixed about Patrick.

not more than anyone else I guess other than I get to watch a more since he plays for BU now. But I have not heard from anyone in or out of his camp that O'Brien does not want to sign with the Flyers.

O'Brien's release is so quick even the cameraman couldn’t keep up!

Yes, you could be right also. What we can agree on is both are really promising prospects at this point.
