All PSE had to do was say "This project is in its infancy and it's far too soon to discuss what stadium financing will ultimately look like. We look forward to working with state and county officials to secure a new home to keep the Bills in Buffalo for another 50 years"

They chose to say nothing, which is fine, but they therefore chose not to control the narrative

"Allen might be even more beloved than Kelly, who was a reluctant and sometimes boorish hero in his early days. Allen has an infectious innocence that Kelly never possessed, an understanding of what it means to be a star athlete in a small, long-suffering sports town like Buffalo.

He gets it. He gets Buffalo, and the people love him for that. Allen is smart and intuitive enough to know that it’s part of being a leader here. It’s something Ryan Fitzpatrick and Pat LaFontaine grasped from the moment they got to town, and something Jack Eichel has never understood.

Eichel went through the motions of leadership, like some of the more forgettable Bills quarterbacks in their time. He has never figured out how easy it was to be loved in Buffalo, how willing the community and his teammates were to follow him, if only he had made a genuine effort."

I see it differentlyi
They should have said..
As usual your storyline is inaccurate and meant to stoke the fears of your readers.
I am sure when the negotiations are completed, your readers will then have the facts at their disposal..which are much different than your story infers. We look forward to delivering Buffalo Bill's football for the next several decades...and we are very confident our fans, your readers will be happy.
Go Bills!

Yes, they could have said something like you posted no doubt. Doesn't erase an irresponsible storyline littered with falsehoods designed to strike fear for readership. They have to be embarassed as hell, as they should be.

baller = allen-worthy approach

I've been in the position of the BN (in college, not professionally) and its very hard to write a story that reads as impartial when only one party is willing to comment. It comes off as a hit piece
- Hank Balling

He made assumptions that turn out to be inaccurate. That's it.
In the rush to report, he chose to assume his impression was accurate. Did not go the responsible path of checking the facts and ran with innuendo.
Don't support that shoddy practice...the quote was correct..."borderline reckless".

He tried to check the facts with the other interested party but they had no interest in commenting. I have to assume that the author presented the information accurately as it was relayed to him. Not much more he could do at that point.

Hmmm.
Tim Graham found a way.
It's called, find an expert who is in a neutral position to give the facts..rather than assume.

The author lead it's reader down a path that
• "publically funded" : "taxpayer funded"...wrong.
• move threatened if they don't get their way ...wrong.

Shoddy reporting. No excuse.

It's also worth mentioning that when PSE did comment, they didn't refute the claim that the stadium would be totally publicly funded. Their only comment was that the number was incorrect and that it didn't involve KBC.

The reporter had sources that were telling him something of public interest and he reported it. PSE should have made their perspective known before the article came out if they believed the situation was being misunderstood.

Saw the below in the Anaheim Ducks blog comments.

Interesting thought.

Will Mason McTavish be the centerpiece of an Eichel trade? Is that why they signed him now.

- kingcong39

I tossed this out there a few weeks ago, but I think the other problem is the first round pick, I don't think the Ducks are going to give up an unprotected first next year when there are a few potential franchise players at the top. Maybe a top ten protected first but they would be crazy to give up an unprotected first with where they could finish.

i mean that seems to be the pegula way. They dont really care. Think about it.

They mainly live in Florida for most of the year and i highly doubt they turn on the WGR app. They are away from everything for the most part.

Ja17 had the benefit of jim Kelly's wisdom from the moment he was drafted.

Kelly has taken allen under his wing.

Ek9 took eichel under his wing....

Big difference

And we aren't going to win this deal while we give whatever team an injured franchise player 6 years into his career paying him 10 million. We can hope for a deal that works well for us but they will get the best player.

They will certainly get the best player. That's why any first coming back needs to be just that, a first in '22.

eichel had gionta, ror and pommer to work with

he just didn't get what being a captain entails

part of that is on the coaches and gms

he was too young to be captain IMO

If they got a top 3 pick next year that player could be better or as good as Eichel why take on an older, damaged, more expensive version? I wouldn't make the deal if I was Anaheim until after next year's draft lottery or top ten protected.

That factors in for sure.
However, there is a possibility that it decreases the longer it goes on, and as it gets closer to July 1st '22 , teams who would not be a consideration for Eichel's services might just up their offer realizing it is their last chance to get an elite, not generational 1C. Teams that don't have one and dont have a top 3 pick will clamor for it (In theory anyway).

Hang in their Kevyn!

How is proof of play going to work when the Sabres do not want Eichel anywhere near the team?

I don't have a problem with the Ducks top 10 protecting the pick as the 2023 draft is also going to be good and I have no idea how long it will take the Ducks to be good.

McTavish being part of the deal alleviates the concern over protecting the 2022 1st round pick for me.

None.
Haven't played fantasy in 10 years after winning the championship and the treasurer of the league absconded with $1000...so no payout. Won the league the year before with another guy as my partner.

Yet, I would definitely take him among the 1st given Bill's O should put him in a lot of opportunities.

Btw - this whole thing with Bass was based o. My comment early season last year that IT HE DIDNT CLEAN UP HIS KICKS FROM 31-40 YARDS, and particularly the right side...converting 75-sh % of his kicks wasn't going to cut it.

Glad he took my advice and cleaned it up nicely!!
Somethings just have to be said.

That's why the 2022 pick would be top 10 protected, and there's nothing wrong with that.
