They are going for it?

This should be rich if this is going for it.

- Stayin alive

Well…they sure aren’t tanking. And they didn’t stay statues quo. So???

Now whether you believe they have built a team to go for it then you can debate that all season but the fact that they brought in pieces to upgrade this team. I would say they are going for it. At least positioning themselves.

Good recovery. That is pretty much my point though.

I get coming on here to say some ideas and read some feedback but to act like you could do it better is just ridicules.

Well there WILL be more to come. The question is when?
Personally I think this team will struggle to make the playoffs. They are definitely better on paper from last year but idk if they crack top 4 in division. I can easily see them finishing 6th or 7th. Either way even if they squeak into playoffs they’re 1 and done.

I’d rather them implode and completely blow the core up and whole core not just Jake. It’s just time.

- Stayin alive

I would rather they add another piece upfront to make the transition from what’s left of the core a little more smooth. They have some really good pieces. I don’t see this team imploding at at all. Fletch didn’t over react, he made some additions, but just as important he made some subtractions that I was hoping for. Fletch talked about a “malaise” around this team last year….that’s when it’s time for some meaningful moves.

Also remember.

Isle and canes look set to be pretty good for awhile

Rags
Devils
Look to be almost at that point with all their young talent.

Columbus is Columbus but they have a lot of picks coming soon. And could rebuild fast

Pitt Washington philly look to be on brink of meddling with courses they on.

Funny at least Washington Pitt won cups with superstars and are playing string out with those.

Philly just philly. Laughable.

I’m not sure “going for it” fits….what they are is a decent team with some holes….and Fletch sought out to address them this summer. They are better today then at the end of the year. I like the positioning themselves analogy…it fits.

Honestly you think gm is hard? It’s not. He delegates to others to control the ship. You don’t need a background in hockey for that. You need to hire the right people to do the work. You’re a MANAGER. Yes the final say does lay with you. Such as trades and draft picks but you’re going on your staff.

Take nopa for example… some scouts were pounding the table for miro but the manager had the final decision and went with nopa. No one was posing the table for nopa. Quit the opposite.

Point is honestly I think many people that post on sites could be gm. If they have management experience and some knowledge of hockey and do a good job.

And every gm makes mistakes and eventually gets fired. So why couldn’t the average joe be one? I mean do the job. Obviously that doesn’t happen but doesn’t mean they couldn’t do the job

Lol at arguing over JVR. The pigeon is what he is.

A team forced to market Hayes, and a washed up Yandle because they can’t find a true young exciting superstar, wonders why it’s continually stuck in mediocrity.

Look above JVR, and those glorious first round championship banners to see the truth.

Do you mean to say, that after keeping Minnesota as a staple of true success for years. That Fletcher was the right visionary for Philadelphia? Or that Dave Scott is an incompetent owner that is helping to sink this franchise.

Meltzer can spew his fanboy nonsense to those dumb enough to believe it. Simply making the playoffs and hoping to catch lightning in a bottle, is a pathetic goal.

Agree100%. They are positioning. Hopefully anyways because if it’s believed they are in go mode this team is (frank)ed. And totally (frank)ed.

Maybe the d Corp works out.. I see major problem on horizon due to cap and % paid toward d Corp but understand that is debatable.

I think the biggest problem on horizon is coots contract and cap ramifications along with g extension and paying the young guys in near future.

What direction and decisions are made in very near future will tell a lot.

If it backfires there’s gonna be a long period of time to recover

Just my opinions of course

Kevin Hayes, and the rest of his Southie trash as faces of the franchise.

To those who spent actual time invested into this team, and know a bit more outside of Gritty.

Can see what an obvious attempt there is to try and market this thing to a younger, and more stupid crowd. Knowledgeable fans see through the bullpoop.

I wonder if they have even started to negotiate with Coots? Or Risto? I do agree this next year will help set the future for the next 5-6 years….G’s contract is another one to watch.

Honestly I’d be shocked if they haven’t at least touched base with agents.

It was. It’s understandable though. They simply couldn’t afford to lose the player. He’s not a true top dman in this league, but similar to Provorov, his value to the team is more important.

Edmonton is an interesting comparable to me. poop on for being a bottom dweller, but in the last decade compared to the Flyers how much difference is there between overall success. Can anyone in their right mind, confidently say the Flyers are destined for more success the next few seasons?

At least McDavid and Drai, are something exciting to watch. The Flyers, for those of us who lived a proud history of days gone. Really shouldn’t be throwing stones. We are closer to those bottom dwellers than we are a Tampa Bay, Vegas, Colorado, or prime time Washington, Chicago, and Pittsburgh.

There was such a great chance to establish themselves on that tier when Hextall first stepped in. They half assed it, and now the bed is made for a club that scrapes to win a playoff round.

When were the flyers ever close to acquiring or rumored to be acquiring Nurse?

Edmonton is a complete joke, they just signed mike smith to a two year contract..this is what we get for hextall, hanging around the playoff line and not picking towards the top. You end up with a middling roster and no real top end talent on the way. It should have been torn down, the pretend rebuild he did set this franchise back .
