How would everybody feel of they traded JVR for johnny hockey?
I'm sure there may be some other minor pieces involved. What may those other pieces be?

I bet gaudreau would give us a hometown discount as well if my pipe dream ever comes to fruition

I don’t think Calgary would do that…I could see them asking for TK and or Sanheim… |

UNless out of the playoff picture the flyers will be 100% buyers come the deadline. No doubt at all about that in any way. |

Here’s the facts, the Flyers don’t have a horse, Mcdavid, Matthews, Ovi. Someone to lean on to consistently put the puck into the back of the net. Someone who can back up other teams, someone to game plan against. This team collectively needs everyone to play their role. I like the way the team is constructed at this point, to what they could do with the dollars and assets they had. Can’t have a steak for every plate each season.
JVR has improved his overall game. I’ll gladly take his 25-30. Where else could it come from? To think Laughton, Lindblom, Allison or Frost will all turn into consistent scorers, right now, is not realistic. Not knocking any of them, like I said, everyone should have a role. |

Well said, if one of these young guys really turns a corner this season, maybe look to move him next summer but right now we can certainly use an established goal scorer on the roster. |

We already have to make up jakes production , no chance we can make up him and Jvr. If Atkinson is healthy I like that we have a couple of net driving wingers in the top 9.
Alison could even make 3 |

a non-elite team like the Flyers needs every equalizer it can get: an effective power play can help steal games you don't deserve to win and JVR is an important and rare asset to having an effective PP
he's also a good vet for the younger players to emulate
as for Morin, i feel like his time spent over the years fighting and clawing to keep his career alive has made him a special kind of example for young players to follow. I really hope that the coaches can make a legit NHLer out of him |

They don't have to make up Jakes production to become a better team.
So lets say they did move JVR ( which is unlikely). Jake 60 points and JVR 45 points. 105 total.
Would it be realistic to expect the following point totals in your opinion:
Atkinson - 30 points
Allison - 20 points ( adding to what he contributed last year)
Oscar - 20 points ( adding to what he contributed last year)
Frost - 20 points

Agree 100%. Yet the coaches imo do not put the players they have in best position to execute said PP.

I totally understand it’s a committee and new mix that will pick up the slack. As I stated before we already lost jake, an established point producer, if we lost jvr too that’s a lot of pressure on the committee to make up and IMO if we lost both we would be in trouble. |

JVR is a good and still a useful player for the Flyers. Factor in he is highly respected in the locker room and has altered his game to fit the style of play that AV wants and expects from the team. He has become a pretty decent 2 way player who will pot you 20 to 25 goals a year at this stage of his career.
iIs he overpaid ? Perhaps, but I think every team has that one big contract that value in dollar terms out weights the performance they are getting from the certain player.
He can be streaky in scoring and can go through stretches where he is a non factor but he has found other ways to contribute last season.
I think it's safe to say the top 4 on the wings are Farabee,Konecny,Atkinson and G.
Will Allison and Linblom have major roles and play significant minutes next year on a third line?
If Frost makes the team and is our 3LC and Thompson is the 4LC, where would Laughton fit in. Does he play on the fourth line? third line wing?
There is alot of uncertainty and alot of questions about how the third line will shape out in training camp. I do think having a JVR on your third line is not a bad thing. He brings experience and a scoring element that you are not certain you will get from the other options.
If the young guys blow the doors off and have a productive year , I can see JVR would become expendable .
Alot of uncertainties of a third line of Linblom -Frost-Allison at this moment. |

To everyone who says he is a one trick pony, you clearly didn’t watch the end of last season. He was physical, chirped guys and got in the opponents faces. He’s a vet with a unique skill set. Not many guys can deflect better than he can (except maybe Pavelski) and he is big and can take punishment in front of the net. Not many guys with those two assets in the league. |

Is it realistic for this team to stay in the hunt if we lost jvr and Jake, replaced them with just Atkinson and there was a prolonged injury at any point to a G or Coots? |

Stlil didnt answer the question.
Well considering last season they were not in the hunt with those 2. You are not just replacing them with Atkinson.
A prolonged injury to either of those will have a severe effect on any success the team has this season. Removing Jake is addition by subtraction.
IF JVR is removed from the roster do you think it will make a significant difference in any success the flyers may or may not have this season? |

I think he will play a key factor in the success of the power play , so yes. |

Fair enough. I do not think he will be a key factor in the success the team has this season.
He had 18 points in his last 38 games. 7 goals in that same span. Flyers better hope that isnt the start of his decline. |
