Bill Meltzer: Quick Hits: Injured Prospects Return, Yandle & Hayes Interview, and More - bmeltzer
Allison looked pretty awesome. He's the kind of hard forechecking, get to the net type that the team's been missing for awhile. Look forward to seeing him grow into a featured role soon.
Frosty is more than capable of grabbing the 3C bull by the horns.
Very much hoping Bunny, Rubstov and/or Tanner beat out Retread Nate coming out of camp. |

Jesus. Keith Yandle and Kevin Hayes. You’d think Jeremy Roenick and Tony Amonte reunited to play on a line and dominate together. - SuperSchennBros

I love Frost's game, but do you think he will eventually be big enough to be effective? I still think he's one of those I can't put any muscle on guys. |

Ristolainen is the big question mark for me. I know Fletcher and company have had their eye on him for a few years. So they must have seen something to like. So I’m going to go on their analyst of the situations. Seemed they had a handful of targets that seemed to fit and went out to make things happen. I like what they did on that back end. - peesinwind
If he plays the way he did against the Flyers this year then he will be a fan favourite. He probably isn’t a top pairing guy like he was type cast in Buffalo but he most certainly is a legit top 4….not a guy that elevated his play for a while….not a guy that has the potential to be a top 4, but rather a guy that “actually” is. He’s not Seth Jones but he’s miles better then Myers is and will ever be. |

Wasn’t expecting that out of Allison. He surprised me. He will find a role in the big club.
Nate Thompson does a few things well but they are need on a successful team. Not sure any of the kids are good enough at those skills yet. He wins a tone of defensive zone draws. He can kill penalties well and is a physical player. He doesn’t bring much else but it is good to have a forth line center that can at least do those things well.
I’m hopeful of Frost. He has true skill. He is a top line kind of ceiling guy. Hoping he continues to develop. |

Giroux is not a big guy…Mitch Marner…not a big guy .Frost will be fine…his upside is still really, really high. Guys have to get used to the speed at the NHL level. He has to learn to stay out of compromising position at this level….you can’t teach his skill level. I’m excited to see him this year. |

Here’s to hoping this assessment is on point. We will get a chance to see it play out this year as long as Ellis is in the line up most of the time. |

I agree. He is not a big body type of game. His game is speed and skill. He does need to have enough muscle to stay healthy and not get buried in the corners. But that will never be his game. Needs to use his agility and passing. It will keep teams off of him and give him just a little room. Not much in the NHL but a little room will go a long way for him. |

He's already been pretty effective in the NHL games he's played.
Muscle is really the lowest concern on the totem pole anyway. I'll take a guy who can play but needs to get stronger over somebody like Patrick who has the build of a 30-yo vet but the brains of a 16-yo. |

He hit a pretty big wall his first stint with the club, few pints in his first two games then had like 4 over the next 18. Last year I thought was his time to break out, he looked much better, unfortunate that his collar bone snapped. |

he was 5 11 170 coming out of JR. I thought he weighed in around 185 last year, if so that is not a bad weight, just needs to learn how to use it, the speed of the game and how to be elusive to hits like G.

I love the way he was always...ALWAYS, looking to get the puck on net. From any angle, he always was looking to shoot or throw the puck at the net. Something most of our forwards don't like to do for some reason.

Guy put up a ton of ES points from 2018-20... per min he was near the top of the league, around Marner, Matthews, Pasta level. Could be a sneaky good add. |

Was his game last year at NHL level? - hello it's me 2050
Did he play in the NHL for the most horrible defense in the league.
Yes
Would Amy goalie have saved this team last year
No.
And honestly, it may help keep his cap hit down this season and next so there is my silver lining
I'm already looking to the future |

The entire Danault line struggled to score last season for some reason when they were one of the best lines the previous two. |

I am honestly surprised with hoe much CF was able to make happen in on off season. Paying someone to take ghost off of our hands sucked but honestly every other trade has good reasoning behind it (the ghost eviction also has its reasoning, I know). I am actually very impressed by his body of work and that fact he moved out Jake and got one heck of a player on return. Jakes contract was a beast to move, I'm sure, and he didn't have to retain any salary.
Well done, chuck!!
As far as risto goes I think he had to play over his head on a piss poor team. He is not a top pair Dman and he was forced to be one in Buffalo. Given proper usage and real expectations should help risto reach his potential. Plus those hits he throws are just absolutely lovely! Lol |

Yea, he’s got that high end skill too. Some serious goals over the years, plays a skilled game but strong on pucks and has a motor. He will probably kill it in New Jersey, they have some speed and talent up front. |
