For me Evander Kane is in the “No way no matter what” category. Like someone already said, he has been despised in three locker rooms already and there are good reasons for that. Now with the gambling and deadbeat dad accusations? Forget it. You’d have to be dumb or insane to trade for a guy like that.

It may be a moot point anyway since he might get banned for life from the NHL if it turns out he bet on hockey.

If the top 90-95 are first liners going off production he’s been a middle to low end 2nd liner.

Eye test paints him a lot worse than he’s been in terms of production.

He said multiple times that he didn't want to give up assets for Seattle to take a contract, and McCann was one of our better assets, so I doubt RW would have been down to trade McCann just to replace Tanev with comparable contract, a B- prospect, and the lowest of low picks.

For a very long time the Pens haven't had the cap space to really be players in the FA market. They've had to make changes via trade. Sadly, JR also squandered the chance to go after better available players and over pay for the likes of JJ and Tanev, so who knows what better players he could have landed. He had his own agenda as we all know.
