That looks very cheap.

You're planning for another $10M forward?

- 21peter

I think I was the one planning but it wasn't for 'another', it was for a replacement $10m forward.

Trade Ditch Marner next season and fix the team properly. Then win the Cup.

I don't think we're winning with Rielly in it. We've all been fans long enough to know where that really weak third pairing gets you. 🤮
- joel878

I get the thinking, right? Try and move Rielly in-season for someone with term or someone you like and sign them - if you can't sign Rielly. But I think you keep Rielly if you can't find that unicorn trade.

That said... if the replacement comes next year . . .Let's say we take the retained salary from Kessel and move it to the #1 D position. Magically we change nothing else. It gives us $6.2m in 2022.

We can try and resign Rielly with that (realistically it's not happening; I think he's commanding $7.5m at a minimum - and honestly, his lack of defensive capability is too much of a detractor for me, personally).

Now, UFA this year was a suprise-fest of "Where'd that money come from?", so next year will likely be no different, but these are the guys who - if not reupped in-season - could be available around that price point (noting again that the inflation on D is exceptionally unpredicable), with their current salary in parentheses:

Subban (9; this one is curious because he is due for a significant pay cut; I don't like Subban too much, but he has a good shot)
Parayko (5.5; I'd figure he goes in the $7m range)
Ristolainen (5.4; barf. I'd rather bring back Carl Brewer again, and he passed away 20 years ago)
Lindholm (5.2; whatever Rielly makes, he probably does, too!)
Klingberg (4.25; I expect Dallas to resign, but he's a similar option)
Manson (4.1; Style begs for a raise, but we'd all love him)
Maatta (4; probably due for a pay cut)
Schultz (4; Gardiner v2.0)
Miller (3.9; stinks of Sabre)
Ekholm (3.75; In for a sizable raise)
Chiarot (3.5; stinks of Hab, even though I sort of like his game)

Of those names - who comes in around $6m and is an improvement? Maybe Manson or Ekholm? Honestly, I can't figure where the hockey economy is going.

Was listening to a top research doctor talking about how the mRNA vaccines are the most effective, safest vaccines, with by far the biggest clinical trial dataset and the biggest real world dataset ever conducted, developed in 1/8 the average time for vaccines. No vaccine in history has ever shown side effects after the two month period, so we know we are good. The adverse event reporting systen is not adjudicated, so it's likely from trials that virtually no one has died from the vax.

One of humanity's most elegant achievements and a perfect triumph of science. And people will look back and just wonder why these huge swaths of people wouldn't take them and perpetuated the pandemic. This should be over now.

- Zezel

Psychology, sociology, and anthropology is all science. Scientists failed to understand why people aren’t taking the vaccine. So really it is scientists fault.

I'd go meal smorgasbord. Or maybe a Full-Course made of my favourite foods. Toriko style -

Hors d'Oeuvre- Pub Nachos
Soup- Ramen
Fish Dish- Fish & Chips (I ain't a big fish/seafood guy, like, at all)
Meat Dish- BBQ Ribs and spicy sausage
Main Course- Chili
Salad- Caesar salad
Dessert- Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins and Banana Bread my mom makes (best you'll ever have)
Drink- Pints of Sapporo

- GreatGigInTheSky

This is a menu to be reckoned with.

If I was gonna round out my spaghetti meal, I'd have a dandelion Greek salad, sashimi and raw oyster appetizer, and pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream and whip cream. Oh and a couple ballpark franks right before the firing squad.

I'd probably have a smoke too, (frank) it.

Scientists understand very well why people aren't taking it. Especially political scientists. It's a failure of leadership. And I think a spirirual malady.

Review of Morgan Rielly contract negotiation plan:

-Start negotiations in August (next few weeks)
-Willing to take under market value to stay in TOR ($6M x 6, $5.5M x 5 possibly)
-If no deal is done by the season, trade is expected
-LeBrun believes deal will get done

Sign him tomorrow and make him captain.

If he is willing to take anywhere near either of those deals, he should already be signed.

Rielly already has an ‘A’. They should take away Marner’s ‘A’ because he shouldn’t have gotten one in the first place.

Nice. I do love me some pumpkin pie. I pity every single one of you, since you'll never have my dessert. That's how (frank)ing good that poop is.

If you allow me to make a small adjustment to your ballpark franks, I'd add pulled pork on top of it. That's my first game of the season Blue Jays meal. So (frank)ing good.

Think that account or another earlier said that if the Leafs go the trade route, it'd be similar to the Seth Jones trade.
