strome is a RFA and Domi is a UFA after this year. I would do Connelly for Domi 33% retained to make the money the same.

And then you would be moving Domi for ??? Domi had a worse year than Strome did, and this is the third team that wants to trade him. You think he can be fixed in Chicago? He is inconsistent, and not good defensively. And has a hot head like his father, remember his assault on Connor Murphy that cost Columbus the game against the Hawks?

Agreed, no to Domi, these type of players lose you more games than they help you win.

As much i like is tenacity domi would be a liability and the fact he is on third team and Columbus wants to trade him is big red flags. It would be another reclamation project. Hard pass

Unless Strome hung out with JJ over the summer and I didn't see Drew Carey's doppelgänger in Dinky's wedding pic so doubtful...I'm hoping Stan cuts bait and gets a pic for Strome. Especially if Toews is healthy.

You could say Stan lost that trade but I don't think Schmaltz's allergy to whatever the boards are made of isn't really what this team needs either.

Not sure why Strome is still around, he does not fit on this team. Stan might as well add another third round pick to next years draft, because yes, I believe he can get that for Strome.

Maybe Stan can just get every team's 3rd round pick.

Yes, because I have differing opinions I am indeed a troll.

Gretzky is far and away the greatest player ever IMO and in the opinion of majority of hockey analysts and past players. Howe and Orr were both incredible, but didn't dominate the way Wayne did. And even they said he revolutionized the game. Bobby "the golden Jet" Hull didn't either. There are great ones, and then there is "The Great One". For a reason. Sorry if it doesn't agree with your BH agendas. But everyone to this day compares themselves to Gretzky. Not Messier, not Howe, not Hull, not Richard, not Orr. When guys say they want to be compared to the best they say they want to be compared to Gretzky.

But if I don't agree with your little community I must be a troll.

Correct. The only argument is that Strome and Schmaltz seem to have the same allergy, but Schmaltz has consistently put up points at about the same clip since being traded. Not that I want him back at all, but that - in my eyes - makes Schmaltz the better player.

I don't have any argument with you about Gretzky. People who can't spell Hockey know who he is, and recognize what he has done. My only gripe is that every team in the league retired the number. I'll even put my disdain for retiring any number to the side here. What possible justification can be made for teams that he has no affiliation with retiring his number. How many great 9's or 19's (or any other number) have there been in the league. You are dealing with a finite set of numbers to put on sweaters, and players change teams all the time. It's just silly.

Any bridges up there named after Probert?

All due respect, never will convince me a guy like Bobby Hull would take Probert in a tilt. Crazy thing is Probert actually had skill and wasn't just a goon out there.

Doesn't matter who the better player is if we don't want either of them. 2nd place is better than 3rd, it still lost.

Theo left early because there was no way he could look smart explaining himself why he blew it up since Ricketts will be broke for a few years.

or because he didn't want to explain how having the 3rd highest payroll in the league wasn't enough for the world's greatest baseball executive to win. And because he didn't want to explain his complete failure to build a farm system that could sustain success.

Or the fact he couldn't find a lead-off hitter or 2 hole hitter..... and all his guys were strike out or homer guys or that he traded away the wrong pieces and kept ones that didn't end up doing much or the high 1st round picks that ended up being meh.

he is one of the most overrated executives in all of sports. all his guys hit at once in 2016.....and then.....he just made asinine trades and signings after that.

That’s your opinion and this opinion is based on what you read. I will stand by my opinion based on watching both players, and in my opinion Bobby Orr is the best hockey player of all time. While plus and minus stats are at times overrated, Gretzky was a minus player in 40% of seasons played, Bobby Orr was never a minus player in any season, even on one leg with the Chicago Blackhawks.
- Angotti

Both Orr and Gretsky benefited from a watered down league and being on big powerhouse teams.

Gordie was Gordie with five teams.

Same with the Rocket but he benefitted from a dynasty filled with almost very terrific Quebec providence player due to their exclusive "farm providence ownership."

It is tough to talk apples and oranges.

The hockey in the last two years is faster and more skilled than I have every seen.
I gotta think many players right now are as good as golden age stars...

No doubt that it is hard to compare different eras, but I’d still take Bobby Orr over any current defenseman. The only defenseman that is somewhat close to his skills today is maybe Makar, but again, somewhat close is not quite there.

Has anyone ever seen Theo and Stan in the same room at the same time?

Look, I abhor baseball. Played it growing up and through high school, but it's worse than watching golf. That said, Theo did something that no one was able to do for over 100 years (not to mention he was able to win two with Boston after 85 years). That puts you in some really good company. To call him overrated is quite short sighted.

issue we have with all these different era players....IMO....is this...

The skaters today are 1000% better than when Orr or Gretzky played. So is the talent gap from the best player to the worst player. So are the goalies......so yes, Bobby Orr per videos is ridiculous, and Gretzky/Mario/Hull/etc all had amazing shots/skill but none of them have/will play in this era......there is ZERO chance Orr could skate around the rink against today's players and kill a penalty by himself.

he was great but...if you put OVechkin in the era in the 60s-mid 90s against those players does he pop 80+ goals? Maybe 90+? Possibly.....would Gretzky score 90 in todays' game? no.

What did you think of Ray Bourque? I never got to see Orr play, but I've always held Bourque up as the gold standard for D-men (that I've seen).
