You are the one who said no possible scenario he doesn't sign. Well that is incorrect. there is one. - hello it's me 2050
I will level with you that the way I worded that statement makes you correct. However, when I said theres no scenario where he isn't signed, I was more talking about the team wanting to keep him.
As in, there's no scenario where Couturier is traded due to money or term. There's no scenario he isn't resigned within the Flyers control. If the player simply doesn't want to be here, the Flyers can't really do much about that.
Coots has been a Flyer his entire career. He was given a big payday as a young player that some people thought was a massive overpayment. The Flyers believed in him. He turned it into the best bargain contract (next to John Klingberg) in the entire league. He was given an "A" and is now a core leader on the team. Unless the Flyers insult Couturier with a low ball offer, why would he not want to stay here? |

Supposedly there were 6 other teams offering 1st round pick. Yeah I call bs. You’re right with we gave up retain at least a mil or so - Stayin alive
So who made up the bs about 6 teams then and why ? Was it so as not to upset flyers fans on Hockeybuzz and make the trade seem justifiable for them?

Flyers will make every effort signing him. With the moves they made this summer they do not have much choice. He has to sense this as well. I do not see him giving them any type of break. Top free agents and players will always get paid.
Why would he not want to stay here? I cant think of nay reason at all.

What are the chances that CF hands Risto a big extension + NMC before he even sees what he looks like on the ice with the team?

I severely doubt Couturier "senses" that. Players hire agent's for such things. The Flyers know what it will take in terms of cap space to keep Coots. They have time to make the space. I don't see the cap being an issue at all.

Why? He IS a first line caliber player. His stats last season bear that out. That is FACT. - MBFlyerfan
If you say so.
How many of his “stats” were from pp?
Also… can move g back to center 3c if frosty not ready.
G biggest value is as pp specialist. No need to have him strictly at wing anymore |

Some folks just have no idea what they are talking about, G is a first line winger on this team and should continue to see minutes in that range. |

G only scored 1 less ES point than Brayden Point. 1 more than Bergeron.

Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher didn’t have a lot of praise to dish out on exit-interview day, but one of his rare bits of positivity was directed at the team’s captain. “If you look at the last couple months, nobody played harder than Claude Giroux,” he said, and it’s difficult to argue with him.
Generally speaking, if a team underachieves to the extent that the Flyers did, fingers are pointed at the team’s leadership — particularly the captain. But anyone who watched the games knows Giroux was doing everything he could to drag this corpse of a team back into playoff contention. Unlike in 2019-20, Giroux actively took over games. He succeeded at center after multiple seasons of dropping off dramatically when forced to skate there. And his advanced metrics at even strength (2.04 points per 60 minutes, plus-0.231 impact on expected goal differential, plus-7.4 impact on shot attempt differential) scream top-line forward.
Giroux may not have won Team MVP (that went to Sean Couturier), but to my eyes, he was the Flyers’ best all-around player. Of course, that was part of the problem — at this point in the Flyers’ timeline, he shouldn’t have to be. He’s not the raw scorer he once was and lacks the dynamism of his youth. But on the ice this year, Giroux more than did his part. |

Scream top line forward lol - ClaudeFather
https://theathletic.com/2...em-oconnors-observations/
Their best player was.
That reclaimed designation may come off as an exaggeration at first glance. After all, it’s been clear to most seasoned observers of the Flyers over the past few seasons that Sean Couturier has surpassed Giroux for the “best player on the team” title, and from a true talent standpoint, Couturier probably still has it. But aside from in terms of scoring efficiency (Couturier’s 0.919 point-per-game rate tops Giroux’s 0.761), Giroux has been the superior player this particular season.
Giroux ranks second on the team in expected goal differential at five-on-five (Couturier is eighth). He ranks fourth in actual goal differential (Couturier is 10th). He’s third in isolated impact on xG differential (per Evolving-Hockey’s RAPM model) and first in Corsi differential impact (Couturier is eighth and second, respectively). Oh, and by Evolving-Hockey’s Wins Above Replacement model? Giroux isn’t merely first on the Flyers; he’s eighth in the entire league in value added to his club (Couturier is 79th).
I could go on.... |
