A lot of guys stay in Minor junior A to give them them the opportunity to play in college. Is there anything about him looking at getting into college? - paulr
If I understand you correctly no, nothing impeding his way to Providence that I'm aware of. Not to get too technical but the pandemic, and a lost yr for a lot of NCAA programs, has caused the NCAA to give kids another yr of eligibility. ...... That's caused a bottleneck. Kids who would have been in the NCAA next yr are back to Jrs cuz there's not a spot for them in college.
Those kids are taking a roster spot on jrs clubs keeping kids in Midgets who would have been in jrs and on and on.
My point about Harding is I'd like to see him play USHL next yr as it's a step up from Jr A. Add he'll be 20 midseason and it's almost like a lost developmental yr IMO. ..... And I'd guess the Hawks are thinking the same thing.

Thanks for sharing this update, Rico. I keep a pretty extensive speadsheet with a dozen tabs or so of information on Hawks prospects, IceHogs, draft hopefuls (in the weeks and months leading up to the draft), etc. so this update on Harding is helpful.
The Hawks seemed to have drafted several overagers a few weekends ago (Harding, Safonov, Kelley, Luypen). I agree, someone who is 19-20 years old should be playing in a more appropriate league like the NCAA for a greater challenge.
Then again, if the Hawks player personnel staff think the AJHL or other junior league is better, who am I to argue. One would think, though, that growth potential would be greater elsewhere. - Theo Fox
With the content you churn out on even low level Hawk prospects I know you keep a book on them. One of the reasons you are a must read. ..... Figured you'd file that info somewhere.
Interesting prospect for sure, but they all are for one reason or another. ..... I'm just assuming here I don't think the Hawks are happy with his choice to stay "home". .... He was drafted by Fargo of the USHL and that organIzation develops and wins. Steel beat them in the Finals this yr with Morrow, Peart and Broz all on the squad and all were drafted this yr. |

One year @ $2M, if he stays healthy that will end up being a real bargain. Doubt he would have signed for that with Hawks. |

If a kid plays major junior hockey in Canada he’s no longer eligible to play college hockey. If he plays minor junior, what used to known as junior B, what Harding now plays in, he is still eligible to play college. If the USHL is like Major Junior in that it prevents college eligibility, and if he’s looking to go to college, maybe that’s why Harding is not interested in playing in the USHL? |

I agree on Nylander. But if he falters after 10 games, they could bring up Reichel and give him a shot. (or maybe Gaudette or Borgstom force there way into consideration).
It would be hard to contend with 2 rookies (Hardman and Entwhistle) on the 4th line. They would have a lot of defensive responsibility for young players. - -Doh-
At this point in their careers, if Nylandar can't take Reichel's lunch money he should just go home. Reichel should not be ready for the NHL. |

New blog! A look at Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman's recent comments about centers playing on the wing and what that means for Dylan Strome and other pivots on the team.

Meh. Thought he was the best of what was left if the Hawks decided to bring in another vet D-man.
