i really don't know...gm adams has shown some serious balls in this so far, to the point where jack's camp whined via a press release about "the process not working" while friedman was interviewing their neurosurgeon

You'd have to think they move him before his NMC kicks in next summer. Not doing that would be an absolute disaster for the Sabres. Once that kicks in Eichel holds all the cards and it's going to hurt his value.

and he's got that 7.5 million signing bonus due on July 1, 2022

Not a chance in hell they hold onto him for another year. Adam’s is playing chicken right now but the negative Sabres PR that would stem from them not trading him would be incredible.

Don't think he's going anywhere until he's cleared to play after surgery.

not really...he's under contract for another four years after that...however, am of the belief it will be done sooner rather than later

think about it, how much more negative can it get for this franchise?
Fox is tremendously skilled, best dman we’ve had since Leetch and he still has a long career ahead of him. With that said it’s not so much about the skill of the player but the grind of the playoffs not being made for smaller defenseman when the forecheck comes harder, the hits get bigger and the jersey pulling gets looser. In my opinion you can have 1 of those smaller dman and be fine, but not 2. It’s not even like Nils is 5’10 200 lbs and plays that type of game. He’s a 5’10 175 lbs finesse player. - nyrangers9479
So if Fox was 5’11 and three quarters we would have no statistical chance but if he grew 1/4 on an inch more we would have more of a statistical chance?
This might be the dummest stat indicator i have ever heard.

Yeah, I was backreading the thread. Other than Rafalski, Fox is literally leaps and bounds better than anyone on that list. You can't have Raffi Diaz back there, but Fox being under 6 feet means zilch.
I don't think he will be quite that good, but if Nils becomes a legit top flight D is this league, his height won't matter one iota either. Caring just about big guys is what doomed Bob Clarke in Philly. If height was the only factor, Hal Mcgill would be a hall of famer.

Sure, but he can pick and choose where he goes. That's not going to help the Sabres recoup fair trade value for him. Adams would look pretty ridiculous if he waited until Jack could veto any deal.
That said, I agree with you that this almost certainly won't drag out until next July

It won't. I do think he will be in a Rangers sweater before the end of the season. The need is just too big on both sides. The only hope is that from the Rangers side, the younger players fizzle out much like in the RIck Nash trade. I remember how pissed I was at the time that we traded Erixon away.

sabres fans would probably hate this trade proposal, but i'm thinking that as of right now, jack for nils, miller, an unprotected 2022 first and an unprotected 2023 1st might be the best deal they could get from the rangers - Michael Pachla
