Many of us are not interested in trading the assets needed for a 10M player whose future is so uncertain we don't know when, or even if, he will play again.
Another point that really isn't being discussed is Gallant's system will be dramatically different from Quinn's, and the depth chart is very different than it was last year.
We should wait and see how this roster works with Gallant's system and then decide what changes are needed. With the assets we have, there are many other Centers we could focus on if needed. - ELew11
well there's definitely no law that says we cant go into the season with cap space and make mid season trades, but something just feels unfinished yet with this offseason
the numbers that come in on Shesterkin's contract are gonna be interesting to see how much we actually have to play with

this 50% cap retention for Eichel is something completely made up in Larry Brooks head and has no merit
there isnt a chance in hell Buffalo is willing to give Jack Eichel 5 million a year the next 5 years to play for another team, it's already so bitter as it is
I think Buffalo's deadline organization wise to trade isn't until next July 1st when Eichel has a 7.5 million signing bonus and that same day it turns into a total NMC
they could very well just hang on to him the whole time unless they get what they consider the perfect deal
oh yeah, and hi
- jimbro83
Welcome back
Eichel isn't going anywhere until fully cleared to play. And you're right about Buffalo not going to retain salary. This circus is ridiculous. |

He's already skating and playing pick up hockey.
Also, the Sabres have completely botched this.
Its so freaking embarrassing over in Sabreland.
For everyone saying Eichel had a piss poor year, You are right he had an off year, he was playing with multiple injuries in the beginning of the year, prior to the neck injury.
The Sabres coach got caught lying about Eichels injury and Eichel called him out.
if anyone wants to know why Eichel is pissed and seems like a malcontent, the Sabres have been messing with his health all year. |

hey I just want to say I loved the Reaves acquisition and them giving him that extra year just shows to him that he's gonna be a very important guy around here for this team
there hasn't been a guy since Avery around here that's gonna shake things up like Reaves will
he's gonna trash talk non stop and it's gonna start in warm ups every game, he's gonna hit people like crazy and actually do a good job of staying out of the box except when he fights
it's gonna be fun |

I just don't understand why the Rangers would get suckered into the Eichel trade talks. Suppose Eichel is as good or better than Rick Nash. There is still no evidence that he can help a team succeed in playoff play. Drives me crazy when teams get hustled into discussions for players that put up good offensive numbers but fail to deliver a winning effort. Do we have any evidence that Eichel could lead a team deep into the playoffs.
Eichel stikes me as the type of player best suited for Toronto. He puts up great personal results but is entirely unreliable when winning really matters. - spatso
the rangers get sucked into stuff like this because it's nyc and they're the big dogs in everything...despite his flaws, his injury and lack of a playoff record, eichel is a big-ticket item with skill and chutzpah...nyc teams can't help but go after a player like that, especially the rangers who have the opportunity to land a 24 yr. old, bona fide top-line center who's just entering his prime...

Friedman on the Isles:
“My theory is that Lou Lamoriello is trying to trade for someone, and he doesn’t want anyone to know how much cap room he does or doesn’t have.”
Continued: “I think Palmieri is signed, I think Parise is signed, I think Cizikas is signed. Here’s one for the wall for everyone to mark down. The rumor is Cizikas is signed for 6x$2.5M. I don’t know if it’s true.” #isles |

"LA went hard. They outbid the #NYR. I don't know if they gave [Danault] an extra year or a bit more money, but they were willing to go to a place that the Rangers weren't willing to go. That's why they got him."

what, you think you gonna get no push back forever on Nils Lundkvist trade proposals? - jimbro83
I think the stats regarding no Stanley Cup winner has had more than 1 defenseman under 6’ for as far back as I looked (2010) speaks for itself. |

I’m glad they did. Now we need to figure out which one of Vilardi/Kupari/Turcotte are available. Their top 3C are now Kopitar Byfield Danault |

Nice to have you back
Maybe Rangers went five years, $5 mil and LA gave him the sixth year and 500k more per or just the extra year. If latter, odd, since NYR had no issues giving Goodrow a sixth year |

2009 - PENS 1 Goligoski
2008 - DET 2 Rafalski and Lebda
2007 - ANA 1 Beaucheman
2006 - CAR 0
So since the 05 lockout only 1 team has won the Stanley Cup with more than 1 defenseman under 6’ and that’s the ‘08 Wings. #tradeNils |

I don’t understand why they won’t let him get his preferred surgery. This whole thing is going no where until he gets surgery. I still think we should concentrate elsewhere that won’t require us blowing up what we’ve built.
Josh Norris? Alex Turcotte? Anton Lundell? - nyrangers9479
the surgery has never been done on an nhl player and they have $80 million invested in jack...their consulting physician on this is dr cappuccino, who was the surgeon responsible for bills tight end kevin everett, who suffered a broken neck, being able to walk again
some sabres fans are leaning towards letting him have his surgery and letting him play the latter part of next season to prove he's back to normal...however, those fans do not have $80 million invested in him |

There’s a bunch of reports the Rangers have made offers. Who knows what they actually are but BUF thinks they’re trading Connor McDavid not Jack Eichel. I honestly wish the Rangers would just stay the course and take whatever offer it is they have on the table off the table and move on. - nyrangers9479
I just wish Drury would come out and publicly state that the Rangers are no longer interested in acquiring Eichel and are focusing their resources elsewhere. He just doesn't seem to operate that way... |

As you might imagine, Igor Shesterkin not filing for arbitration yesterday was a good sign.
It sounds like the 25-year-old goalie and the #NYR are getting close on a new deal in the $5.75 mil-$6 mil AAV range. Kinks to iron out, but confidence it's happening.

When has Eichel put up great numbers?
That is what gets me.
He is a good - great player. Not Elite. None of his numbers support that he is a top 10 player besides his draft position next to McDavid. What numbers support he is Elite? Yet most BUF fans still call him generational. Crosby was generational, McDavid is generational, Gretzky was generational. They were the absolute best in their 10+ year period. What has Eichel done to show he is even top 10 in his generation? - wreckage
I mean, there were the two consecutive seasons where he put up over a PPG, including 36g in 68gp. He's not generational by any stretch of the imagination, but saying he's not an elite talent is pretty incorrect. Not to mention he did it playing on one of the most consistently terrible teams in the league without much of a supporting cast around him. |

Fox is tremendously skilled, best dman we’ve had since Leetch and he still has a long career ahead of him. With that said it’s not so much about the skill of the player but the grind of the playoffs not being made for smaller defenseman when the forecheck comes harder, the hits get bigger and the jersey pulling gets looser. In my opinion you can have 1 of those smaller dman and be fine, but not 2. It’s not even like Nils is 5’10 200 lbs and plays that type of game. He’s a 5’10 175 lbs finesse player. |

yeah, that's why they are adding size and toughness all over the place
why they signed Nemeth to a 3 year contract that coincides EXACTLY with Lundkvist's 3 year entry level deal |

If you believe the latest statement from Eichels camp, Cappucino was on board with the disc replacement and then all of the sudden was not. |
