Still need some tweaking in the bottom 6...like losing Engvall and/or Kerfoot for a nice mean and nasty 3RHD, but I'll admit...

Dubas made some slick moves to make the team better than last year and definitely a tougher and more physical team. They should be hard to play against.

That being said, Rielly needs to be addressed immediately IMHO.

And, if Marner is a no-show next year in the playoffs, if we make it, he needs to be addressed without question next summer.

I'll leave it there.

Nick Ritchie.

The missing piece.

- Scabeh

well now if Ritchie can bring what Anderson brought to the Habs... and at less than 1/2 the CAP hit.. I say that's a good move.

I'm curious to see what the Habs sign Kotkaneimi and Lekhonen for and how they set the table for next year's resignings... Suzuki and after that Caufield. Droiuns money will only go so far...

and Habs have bunch of mid-range guys signed for 3-4 years.

why did they give Hoffman that much?

How could you possibly expect a player that makes 10.9 million dollars per season to score a goal in the playoffs.

That's just such a crazy ask, it's like thinking for that kind of money he should be capable of producing one single powerplay goal over the course of an entire season.

Madness. 🤦🏻‍♂️

if they turn out to be a borderline playoff team by the trade deadline... then the Marner and Rielly related decisions should be made then.

it was a shame they couldn't get Bogosian inked for another year or two - I thought that he looked better the more he played.

I know you have no reservations about attacking our best pt producer, going as far as savagely attacking his family (like you attack a child with French fries at the beach), but the Marner hate is the worst thing about (some) Leafs fans. MTL’s game plan worked for shutting down Mitch because Dubas left him completely exposed, no one to protect him. Small skilled players can succeed in the playoffs if they have a line mate who’ll protect them.

Mitchy and Ritchie. This could work. But putting it all on Mitch, expecting him to be able to perform without help last year was ridiculous from the start. Nylander was fine because the Habs paid no attention to him, which also was a mistake because Willy made them pay.

just hope both goalies can stay healthy otherwise they are up a creek without a paddle.
- dmnted

An extremely big IF… Leafs need to continue to improve on allowing fewer shots..

I think the issue is going to be flexibility of moving people in and out of the lineup. I get the sense that there are some waiver constraints that they may need to look at. So, maybe not just Brooks at the start of the season.
- Canada Cup

It could be that Dubas intends for him to be our 13th forward. Sandin may be the guy they float up and down?

Since 1967 . I believe he can be a real plus. Some hear think I troll because I’m a Bruin disciple. Not true I was down on Dubas when he was all about analytics and speed and skill. When intangibles and character were scoffed at. He has changed and is now looking for a balance . No problem giving him credit. Unbelievable but the leafs might be pushing the bruins around this year.

Got to love the Bruins fans laughing that leafs signed Ritchie (and kase), they forget they signed Foligno?
- burn

Which ones are laughing? I'm disappointed they didn't put much effort into re-signing Richie.

As for Kase... hasn't played many games, so it's hard to miss him.

Let's be honest, if he had 12 assists and no goals we'd be okay with the 10.9M, amirite/amirov?

Yes lots of tweeter saying Ritchie is garbage.

Josh only scored 2 more goalies than Ritchie. I'll take those cement boots at 3M less per season.

weber already pretending to be injured
- twiztedmike

If the Habs make the playoffs Weber will be ready for the first shift. He's owed $6M over the last four years of his contract with a cap AVOIDANCE hit of over $31 Million

He's 2.5mil guy. He's not here to win the scoring title or rocket trophy.

He's bringing an element the team needs. Not sure what's not to like

Not Habs fans for sure. The price of gooning Matthews, Marner, JT and Nylander just went up.
