Doesn’t the NFL allow that?

We’ve given smoochie williams permission to seek a trade….

I don't see how it wouldn't be tampering at some point, especially if they start discussing players and pieces involved.

I agree with this - Downtown somewhere > OP

just too easy for ECC that doesnt need that space down there and the indoor practice facility etc. Tough to move it downtown without additional costs.

- atlsabsfan

The idea of it being downtown or on the waterfront boggles my mind. Why would you want to take that land and put something up that is used 10 or 12 times a year?

That’s a good point too

The preservationists have always gotten in the way of progress in the city.

They had been going on 3 years just trying to break ground on those lofts on the corner of Elmwood/Forest IIRC when I left last summer. I have seen the same stuff get started and finished in the last year down here in Columbus, ten times the size of what's going on around Buffalo.

It's sad, it sucks and it isn't changing any time soon, unfortunately. I'm on r/buffalo on reddit having these same discussions, and the bitterness over it is astounding, but the amount of people convincing themselves Buffalo is rapidly developing is even worse.

I want Buffalo to go through an actual revival. I didn't want to leave. I want it to be a desirable place to live but it just is not and when you're trying to convince people to come to your city when you can't even convince them to stay says all you need to know.

Part of why I detest the Pegulas is they do not invest a single penny into actually improving Buffalo's infrastructure or public schooling.

People choose to see this as me talking crap, and again, inferiority complex through the roof. I'm just calling out on the fallacy. I actually do want Buffalo to be better and to keep the Sabres and Bills but I honestly think one of the teams leaving might be best for the city itself.

Also, the 4AM last call and being a low-key cocaine town doesn't help. People are miserable there and unless you join in on it, you get attacked for criticizing it. I know so many people form high school that make their living off the bar/restaurant culture and the Pandemic showed that is not a reliable source of income. So many people almost lost everything because that's all they have there.

If it had a roof, yes. But no roof means no other major events, at least not during the winter months.

I would have loved to see a real partnership with UB, NYS, and the Bills to build a downtown stadium that UB could use for their games, Bills for theirs, and maybe a MLS team as well. Improve the rail system from UB’s campus and actually get your money’s worth.

The infrastructure would be a nightmare… that’s the only problem.

OP is an easy in and out. Set up for the traffic already.

Downtown just isn’t. How much does that add to the project?

- Gr8daygo

Idk
But it could at least spur on more development dt
In OP, that area gets a minimal boost before & after games- and that’s it

There aren’t a lot of major events in the winter months anyways

I grew up in OP,
but that area for the stadium kinda blows

I'm pretty sure it's happened before in the NHL. With the team's permission, of course.

Big stadium concerts are always available in warmer climates or during the summer months in Buffalo.

My mom still lives off of Taylor Rd in OP. The area does suck, not enough development that way.

On what aspect?

It takes almost the same amount of time to leave the stadium as it does to leave the arena even though it holds about 5x’s the amount of people. City stadiums are scenic but once you get past that they lose all of the amenities that come along with a stadium like ours.

They should purchase and demolish the McKinley Mall and build an entire Stadium/Entertainment district over there but they never will. It's close enough to the highway to be a viable option and would attract all of these supposed young techies coming for all of the software jobs Buffalo is trying to bring in.

They can do something like this:

My area is starting to get an influx of remote workers. The economy is totally different now and I think municipalities are going to have to change how they market the area to get ppl to come.

Ppl don’t mind coming to Binghamton making Bay Area or NYC salaries and leverage the lower cost of living.

Buffalo could do something similar as well.

Every company in a high cost of living city that allows their workers to go fully remote will eventually slash salaries if they know someone else moved to a low cost of living area.

A few people at my company have requested it, and the company granted it but made them consultants so they lose benefits like 401k and health insurance (which is $0 deductable and 100% free)

Whatever trade GM KA makes for captain Jack I wouldn’t blame him for the return. Face facts Every GM in the league knows the history behind eichel. Jack is a player that should get a return to set the Sabres up for years but it just won’t happen.

That's one of the main things Bingo has going for it actually, is the low-cost housing market. You're also a 3-hour drive from NYC, Philly, 4 hours from DC, hour and a half from Syracuse, etc... But I think like Buffalo, Binghamton messed up by building their university in the suburb rather than closer to downtown. It made Vestal a gigantic built-up strip mall just like Amherst and the students don't want to go downtown except to party.

But anything is better than how they were selling Binghamton for the past 20 years as basically a free welfare haven. I met too many people from NYC area who told me they came for that reason alone and found out the hard way you need to be a resident for 6-months before you can get the benefits and it was basically a trap to filter people into the county jail.

1- there’s lots parking downtown, especially on Sundays when no one is working

2- meh, ppl will figure out how to get in & out of the area. Keeping ppl dt spending $$$ isn’t a bad thing for the Bills, the city, tax revenue, etc

3- there will be plenty of bars to party in- already are in fact

Those amenities are not good reasons to keep the stadium in a poor location- with nothing really around it

Much cheaper for the county to keep it in OP.

ECC South isn’t gonna be there much longer.
