I’m with you man. I think we’re the only two though 🤣

Everyone is worried about helping the rangers.

I'm worried about helping the Sabres.

We're "helping" any trade partner team with a cap dump, it's the same thing. Minus the crusty old vet.

On the other hand, you have Kane's track record which includes being a degenerate gambler.
- kingcong39

Or the track record of just putting together the best season of his career.

Also are all gamblers degenerates or just the ones you don't like?

I like how people will draw conclusions because their past automatically makes them guilty.

Never change social media, never change.

Flying solo ☝️

I didnt come up with the concept, although I introduced the thought to the board.

We're not "helping" the rags, we're helping the Sabres get the best return possible for our franchise center.

Retain vs. Cap dump.

No loser taking up a spot being miserable
More teams able to take on eichels contract
More teams willing to take a risk on his injury
Getting rid of skimmer (in 2 years) makes this very possible

I do absolutely agree with paying eichel to beat us in the playoffs or them winning the cup on our dime.

That would suck.
Laferierre and kakko ......

- Boss34

If it was truly just a business decision, despite the idea being diabolical, you have a salient point about retaining on Eichel to up the return.

I didn’t say that, I said they want to keep
Him but cost and Eichel having his ear may be an issue .

- SABRES 89

I'm not going to go back and forth.

I appreciate your imput.
The board is better with you around.

I heard sam was gone %100. For a long time.

My guess was his value was pretty minimal.

The package I listed is literally the rangers #1 prospect, #4 prospect, and a potential starting goalie as well as a 1st round pick.

And the #1 and #4 prospects are NHL ready.

Spare the hyperboles

- rangerdanger94

You are wrong Laf and KK are your top prospects, they are still on their ELC's which is why they are still considered prospects even though they are playing in the NHL.... look at any organizational prospect chart and Laf and KK are still on it.

We wouldnt be taking a cap dump with a 5 year term. It really isn't the same thing.

It could look bad, really bad.

Especially if eichel wins anything, and/ or the return prospects are smelly and never amount to anything.

Realistically we're gonna need some $ to get to the floor minimum. Unless they are looking outside the box.

Retaining salary now opens up more teams after ufa season has taken up some cap space around the league.

The last thing this team needs is more unhappy vets dumped in buffalo.

Will this Eichel crap ever end ? Seems like we've been talking about it for years. My guess is that this will linger on and on and on .... just because we can't have nice things.

That's true, but that's why I included skimmer's deal falling off when cap space is really needed.

Basically 2 or 3 years from now.

Eichel's camp is banking on that fatigue to get him out sooner

There isn’t one because fvck the Rags and Eichel.

I’d rather they send him to Arizona for less than send the baby where he wants to play.

- dadeadhead

If it were Arizona the buzzards (Boston or the Rangers) would circle and get him anyway

Hmm I don't think the Rangers have anyone they could dump cap-wise. Kreider is the only one, but he has a full NMC currently.

What about:

Nils OR Schneider
2022 1st
Chytil
Georgiev

Basically the same package, but a slight "downgrade" from Kakko to Chytil?

If the Sabres are willing to eat like 2.5mm of the salary, maybe they keep Kakko in the package, as that would allow for the Rangers to keep Zib and Eichel both. If the Rangers do end up acquiring Eichel for the full 10mm, they 100% lose Zib to free agency next year.

- rangerdanger94

Here's what I don't get...WTF is wrong with just signing Zibs for the 10 mil....he's a damn good player and the odds are zero the Sabres are holding and the Rags aren't going to keep both Zibs and Eichel or they will be entering Toronto territory of tying up to almost 50% cap in 4 players.

He doesn’t stand out in anyway pretty much ever. Invisible more often then not. To me so far he’s a completely unremarkable player. I’m not saying he won’t put it together at some point but I am saying he hasn’t yet.
- Cptmjl

I would say it’s the opposite. He’s noticeable every shift and often times one of the top 3 forwards every game but just hasn’t found a way to translate it into point production.

I do agree that it’s make or break time for him. Rangers traded Buch to free up quality ice time in the top 6 for him and Laf, and Kakko said in a Finnish interview recently that Quinn made him just dump and chase every shift and had him on a short leash, now he feels like he’ll be able to play his offensive game more, so excuses are running out.

Curious if you can show me one up to date prospect list that has KK and Laf listed as prospects?

Sabres aren’t retaining any money to trade Eichel.
- SABRES 89

They have already spent this money on the 2 or so ex gms and 2 or so ex coaches still on the payrol

Oh the optics would be absolutely brutal if Adams retained salary, especially 50%, but Adams would truly have the greatest balls of steel of all time if he did that to maximize the return.

I'm not sure I can think of a bolder move for him to make.

He should

Sabres are entering 5 year rebuild territory. What does it matter if they have 3 or 4 or 5 million in dead money during that time. Have to maximize the players/prospects and picks so that in 5 years, they are ready to compete for real

Hopefully Terry is gone and Kim Pegula is in the Sharon Stone role in Casino

You mean, sit and collect 10 million in salary while his trade value drops so that his new team is that much better off in the future for it?

Just kinda makes sense with the timeline.

Deadline was ufa signings

Now it's either cap dump or retain if eichels going bye bye. Seatlle could afford him, but realistically what other teams could add a 10 million $ guy. (Winning teams)

I still think eichel is here next June .
July 1st being the next big date. No trade clause waived day.

Probably skips most of this year with back PT or surgery

That's the most common sense thing. Letting jack sit/ get healthy to maximize return and really let everyone know kAgM is in charge . No bag of burglands....

I actually watch a lot of Ranger games and can honestly say I disagree. He had his games or a decent period here and there where he was executing but unable to finish but most games I’ve watched like I said he is not noticeable at all imo. Maybe I’m watching the games that he’s coincidentally invisible but that’s not likely.
