My opinion, part of the reason we’re here is that Jack has gotten whatever he wants. From Bylsma getting fired to being made the C.

In order for this to workout, he has to understand he’s got to be more professional and mature because he’s be starting the season with us in you scenario, no?

He would have to be mature and professional something he has yet to be.

So I’m looking at “winning” as it relates to a consequence, either positive or negative, that impacts the player’s behavior.

Not really concerned with winning outside of that context.

- gcomella34

After surgery he comes back to play as the best Proof Source of the quality in the return to play question teams are obviously concerned about.
Key to remove the objection in a deal.
Don't care about what the "win" is for his future behavior as the Sabres will be free fro. It assuming a trade out.

This is all about:
a) transfer of financial risk in the event of failure
b) removing objections to receiving fair trade return value.

It completely ignores the public perception that the petulant player getting what he wants...let the acquiring team deal with it.

The trade values blow right now a) because teams are sensing Sabres are time boxed to make a trade, b) questions around if he will be the same player.

But they could stay the very effective course they have charted and feel so great about puffing out their chest...at the risk of fvcking up the biggest trade in Sabres history and the league in 5 or 10 years.

Both of those teams are rebuilding and doing it right. Trading for him would (frank) up the work they've done. They are building for the long game to be good for years.

I agree with this post, but it's very tempting to go kopitar/ eichel for the next 3 or 4 years.

Give the old guys another cup run.

As a previous poster already mentioned, why haven’t they gone that route yet and instead go to media to play it that way? I think your last sentence answers that - I believe behind closed doors, every org in the league actually agrees with the Sabres position on this. Just my opinion but it makes sense if you think on it.
- Pingleheimer

Absolutely, agree that every other org is on board with the Sabres position. The Sabres have the hammer here Jack’s agents are just trying to counter the best they can.

It seems that Jack is saying that he wants disc replacement and it’s not negotiable. I don’t understand how the arbitration works. Is the arbitration binding? I mean, I wouldn’t go to arbitration where the risk of losing would be that I wouldn’t get to have the surgery that I thought was best for mr.
- Minnyhock

You mean the risk of losing your case as opposed to just whining to the media and not getting the surgery?

Who gives a fvck who "won" if the Sabres and Jack both have their issues resolved.

Or, they can continue to piss on each other...seems like it is working just fine so far.

Rags only team left, and offering 3 echl players.

We actually are closer to agreement than you think. We’re getting hung up on winning. Let me clarify, if Eichel is going to start with us for a bit, he needs to professional and mature. Be a good team mate, produce, keep stuff in house.

That all feeds into the Sabres receiving fair value. That is all I’m concerned about.

If he has to be here, I want him in a position to understand his behavior gets him closer to his goal, not being a Sabre. I don’t think he gets that with the way he’s acting and I dont want the team to reinforce his bad behavior so it impacts their return.

That’s what I mean.

It is if the replacement doesn't work, but the surgery is twice as hard and delicate because you have already removed the whole disc to put the replacement disc in.

I'm going off what that Dr said in the podcast, as he saw and evaluated Jack.

We can speculate, but I'm not qualified to offer up an opinion on medical treatment...well, other than Boubon and smoking the ganja

Well, both sides are certainly playing to optics. Do you think Jack is actually thinking of playing again without surgery? Would the team allow that?

I’m also not a doctor but my wife went through this entire process for a herniated disc in her back. Her Dr was Dr Cappucinno. The leading disc replacement doctor in this country and one that is on the Pegulas payroll.

If he says no disc replacement surgery it’s hard to argue with the guy that has done the most disc replacement surgeries in the USA. Not to mention he helped create and implement these surgeries to be covered by insurance companies. If he says no it’s for a reason.

We are in the same boat, and rowing the same direction!
Good post.

I feel decent that The Don can position it properly with him, and construct a decent line that maximizes the opportunity for the Org to reap the benefits by having Jack produce.

Does jack eichel think all this is helping his cause? I might be experiencing an Ah Ha moment about how big of a dope this guy really is.

I do believe Don could clean it up. Especially if Jack is having some fun with the team.

That is the issue. I have zero problem with him wanting to be traded. After the ineptitude shown by the org, even if it appears they’re heading in the right direction, too little too late in his eyes. I get it.

But he’s only lessening his value at this point.

Well,
I agree that in Arb, Jack is losing, in agreement with what you stated around Dr C's expertise/qualifications.

That said, I believe everyone has the right to decide on medical so,utions/ treatment for themselves.
The other Dr is no slouch either, and they have differing opinions, to which Jack feels more comfortable with his Dr.

So now the issue us finding away which each side protects their interests.
I posted my solution above...a page or two back.

Tom Brady has 17 TD & 12 INT & a 89.4 Passer Rating in his Conference Championship game wins.

Tom Brady has 21 TD & 17 INT & a 82.7 Passer Rating in his Conference Championships games overall.

Tom Brady relied on elite defences just as much as they relied on him.

If Aaron Rodgers had the benefit of being average in the playoffs how many more rings would he have ?

- Pegullaville

Year before TB had one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Year before that they were even worse.

But of course when Brady is there it was the TB "elite" D?
TB scored 30+ points in every post season game in 2020.

Year Brady left - NE went 7-9. Coincidence?

I just can't believe someone would rate Rogers "QB of the century" when another QB was involved in 7 Championships - the most ever by a player.

Yup.

The only consideration I'll give is that perhaps Adams is being a complete cement head and not trying to find a way for both sides to get what they want, which then allows for Adam's to get proper value in a trade.

If he is so focused on the path his Medical Team has recommended, and not looking for ways to de-risk the situation...maybe the Agents are justified in punching him in the face...

Not trying to disagree with you, just going of what I was told when I had my fusion surgery and the different things that could happen. There's good and bad with each surgery.
