I agree with this.

If the Sabres publicly announced today that Eichel could have the surgery of his choice and that they would begin to seek a trade for him once he was recovered I suspect we would quickly find out that the surgery is not really a make or break issue

https://twitter.com/ntrid.../1421477228307701767?s=19

the response would be “that wasn’t the agreement” and it would finally be clear that the surgery was always a tool for both sides

Its irrelevant how you feel about getting the vaccine. Abortion is murder right?

Tell the people who now have illnesses because of the vaccine it is stupid not to get it.

You shouldn't be so judgemental

Maybe Eichel should have read his contract before he signed it.

- sabresfan69

The chances of getting ill from the vaccine are <<<<<<<<<< than chances of getting very ill from covid 19. It's not even close.

You actually have a higher chance of getting a blood clot from covid than you do from getting it from the vaccine.

It's like saying there's a 5% risk to open heart surgery. But if you don't get the open heart surgery there's a 90% chance you will die. Would you actually not get the open heart surgery?

i love this line:

"A further point of concern is that our camp was initially under the impression that the Sabres specialist was in agreement with the Artificial Disc Replacement surgery until that was no longer the case."

just what gave them the "impression" that the sabres doctor was ok with this?

- Michael Pachla

Yeah I mean every presser Adams has done he has said are stance and the are doctors stance has not changed.

If you really need surgery, you aren’t playing a pickup game.

A million things can happen.

His bluff was called and he got caught.

That sounds good in theory ... in the real world having disgruntled employees doesn't work .. esp your most talented employee .. if affects every aspect of the business. Then your other employees start to wonder what the hell is going on.

Except if they don't like him.

Find a quote that says Jack is a great teammate. Not speaking about his skill on the ice, but being a leader, captain or friend to other players. Doesn't exist.

Trading him for less than market is the bad move here.

Friedman becoming a mouthpiece for the Eichel camp is really disappointing. He's going to get a lot of sh*t for this.

The Sabres are just a plain old trainwreck on this. Give me a break... Eichel is the best players hands down on this roster when healthy. The Sabres wont see his caliber of talent for decades to come. Let this guy do what he needs to do to get healthy and get him back in the lineup. Who gives a crap if he is a bit of a head case. All that matters is what he does on the ice... PERIOD!!!!!

Small addendum here......

Trading him for less than the market value of a top 5 - 10 Center in the league is a bad move.

Jack's actions/injury are lowering that market value by injecting a lot of uncertainty.

I wonder where the term addition by subtraction came from.

I dont agree with your opinion about thats all that matters. This is a team sport.

You do understand that your paragraph above explains partially why the Sabres may not be getting the quality offers they're hoping for, right?

Also, less than market is such a subjective statement as the market is ultimately what the buyer is willing to pay.

1. It appears the Sabres have let him do whatever he wants since coming to the Org. This is partly why we're here.

2. He doesn't want to play on the ice for the Sabres so they are working on getting the most talent from a trade to put on the ice.

And if he gets an independent expert opinion not paid by the team that says the procedure is viable?

You think Eichel does not want to be healthy?

- Nasty_Duck

Think about what you’re saying

Get all the second opinions you want; doesn’t change the contract terms. Doesn’t change the suitability of the procedure from the standpoint of the team doctors, and that’s all that matters

call it further by letting him have the surgery

edit: "What is being left out of the discussion is that Jack would be able to play in the NHL for the start of the season pending medical clearance if he were allowed to have the surgery he desires even as of this date."

I agree. Its KAs job to extract value. Just doing his job and using the leverage he has. The back and forth is not helping and it will be interesting to see who blinks first.

Both of these are spot on.

But that doesn't mean the Sabres HAVE to accept what buyers are putting in front of them.

Again, this is so remote it WON'T happen but I would love to see KA sit down with Jack in complete transparency and show him the value that was offered, why it was insufficient, and what may have led to it which I bolded in your comment. Tell him, I want to balance the equity here but here is what I need from you....

If you do something different you're only lowering your trade value more and making the situation worse...

Again, not going to happen but that would be great.

No kidding.

Who in years past can you think of that is thought of less than he is now?

If all of our assumptions are correct, this is like Roger Clemmens with the Sox or, as a Giants fan, Tiki Barber with the Giants.

Tiki is NEVER going to be embraced by Giants fans.
