Yeah, I think it's an awful deal considering what we were all talking about as a potential return a week ago. But that's neither here nor there.
Remember when it was Matthew Tkachuk or pick 5 from Columbus? Or even pick 8 and a prospect from LA?
We got a pick that will most likely be 25-32 and an unpredictable undersized goalie
It's brutal - sbroads24
Imagine if i came in here a few days before Reinhart was traded and said.
Fla for a frst and a former 7th rd pick goalie prospsect.
People would have flipped out on me saying its an awful return. |

Oh my and that’s all it was was talk….. we were not getting Matty T and A top 10 pick for a rental? I think not my friend.
Unpredictable? He’s been solid at every stage he’s played. Undersized yes.

Risto was bad.
Got a great return.
The return will not yield any sort of impact for 3-5 years. |

So Ryan Kennedy from Sports Illustrated and his elite prospects bio are the "experts"??? - sbroads24
These are just 3 quick posts. I could add 10-15 more. The Kid was on no ones radar and is now on the elite prospect path.
Goalies are tough to scout and might not pan out, but who do we have in the pipeline?
Good move IMO |

Hagg plays NHL minutes - KaltatasSkirt
they got 14th overall plus hagg plus a '23 second rounder, no strings attached...all for a one-year rental |

Whos this:
somewhat undersized butterfly goalie, but very quick and agile. He is very consistent and rarely has an off game. His reflexes are top notch and he has a very quick and impressive glove. He moves well from side to side and has a noticeable winner's instinct.

The trade itself is fantastic. No complaints
But of course people like Pachla are trying to spin it into anything else than me saying I am surprised between the two trades we did not get an NHL ready guy - sbroads24
Pach likes to use Risto hate as a fire starter.
I'm just glad we don't need to beat the poop out of this organization anymore for employing him.
Personally, I'd have liked a guy like Tyson Foerster, but is he better than Isak Rosen? Doubt it.

"TeAms WonT Pay FoR OneYear RenTals"
or so im told.
You cnat have it both ways here.
both players were traded on one year contracts.
Risto return is great
Sam is not.
Neither return is helping the Sabres in teh next 3 years. |

Risto return great, even though we have zero clue if any of the futures will turn out.
Sam return bad because we have zero clue if futures will turn out.
Did I do that correctly? |

One of the players traded is really good. One of the players traded is really bad.

your direct quote:
The frustrating part of all this for me is the lack of prospects we’ve gotten/ will get that will contribute anytime within the next 2-3 years.
Rosen (pick from Risto) is 2-3 years away from sniffing the NHL
The Reinhart first is 2022, so 2024 earliest that will be a Sabre
Devon Levi is 19, at least 2 years away
This doesn’t have to be a 5 year rebuild, but at this pace it’s going to be.
I was hoping for a few NHL ready prospects in these trades'
and your response is?

not that i need to answer for broads or anything, but you can simultaneously accept that you got great value for an asset, but also desire different value, or pieces rather. |

Yes, you are. It was a lame attempt at starting a Ristolainen flame war.
