True but you can't put the C until the roster is built correctly for him to be successful - gerbe75pts
Not saying he is this, but Landeskog was named captain at 19... Some guys just have "it" in their eyes. They will go to battle for their team night in night out if they are last place in game 82 or game 7 of a series. Doesn't matter to them. Think I saw that more from Cozens last year then any player on the Buffalo team the last ten years. |

Don’t even have a C this year. Lead by committee. Every guy in that room needs to step it up one way or another. |

I bet Okposo. I’d put money on it. McCabe would be my 1b bet if he returns - lulags

he's been captain before amongst his peers, and that's pretty much where he is--amongst peers right now--as they work the re-re-rebuild...
but, whatever's best for proper development |

I don't see why they would name a captain at all this year

The frustrating part of all this for me is the lack of prospects we’ve gotten/ will get that will contribute anytime within the next 2-3 years.
Rosen (pick from Risto) is 2-3 years away from sniffing the NHL
The Reinhart first is 2022, so 2024 earliest that will be a Sabre
Devon Levi is 19, at least 2 years away
This doesn’t have to be a 5 year rebuild, but at this pace it’s going to be.
I was hoping for a few NHL ready prospects in these trades |

Why not a game by game with it being chosen out of a hat? |

Quinn, Power, Peterka should be ready for next year.
Still have the return from the Eichel trade whatever that may be.
Also if we suck as much as we think we’ll do then Wright/Savoie/Lambert will play next year too.
Also UPL should be ready to at least be a backup at the NHL level next year or else we know he’s a bust |

the reinhart trade is the only one that realistically could have fetched a ready prospect right?
then it turns out his value wasnt that great

We’ve tried the fast track approach and we’re back to square 1.
Build correctly.

really?...in many circles right here, risto wasn't worth more than a third or fourth round pick...
and there's no way a team in the east will give up much for a player that should be considered a rental since he's seemingly focused on returning to the west coast

I have a hunch that the return wasn’t that great because he said piss off to an extension with FLA.
It was a deadline deal only Florida get the whole season with him and if they stink for whatever reason, they can recoup the pick. |

No they can frank off now.
One of Drysdale or Zegras or don’t be calling my damn phone - KA
Franking joke that none of these gms will pony up a top prospect. |

This is all true, but I don't think it's near what it could have been in terms of young talent that's NHL ready coming back..
I was expecting 2-3 guys along the lines of Zegras or a few of the LA prospects who at worse are joining the Sabres in 2022 for the Reinahart/Eichel trades.
Now I fear the Eichel trade might not even garner those pieces as a return |
