He's 20 years old. Had 21 points in 32 AHL games last year in his first year of pro hockey. So I wouldn't compare him to Mitts.

Would I prefer Zegras? Heck yeah.

But if LA comes calling with Turcotte, Kupari ++, I'm listening.

I’m not arguing the secondary pieces. I’m just saying if Vegas puts Krebs on the table. If Minny puts Rossi or Boldy on the table. I think those two offers would appeal more to myself.

Monahan would be coming to a team in even worse (much worse) shape then the one he produced poorly for that fell apart, as you put it.

You're expecting a turnaround with the Sabres?

That sounds like a seriously questionable expectation to have.

He could shield the kids as they grow, and if it gets Zary, Valimaki and there 1st what is the problem.

I am of the opinion that dealing with the Ducks or Habs is our best bet in getting a lottery pick. So max the return and include unprotected first rounder in 22 if possible....

Can’t we just overpay a UFA to take that beating?
We do have a TON of Cap room after all

Making teh salary work with LA is difficult.
It involves Quick, Iafallo, + another salary peice cming back to Buffalo.

Quick is a dump, Iafallo holds value, AA for example holds some value.

- ImThatGuy

They have 5.1 mil in space, a few easy one year deals to use as cap dumps and long term flexibility as they only have like 11 guys signed through next year

IMO, when Adams inevitably backs off needing a Byfield, or Zegras, LA will put the best offer out there.

They just make too much sense to me.

That being said I’m totally prepared for him to become a Ranger today

They have about 2M in space now (also have about 24 guys on the roster, cut that to 23 there's some savings)

Quick takes 5.8M of that, Bjornfot and Vilardi both at a M.

Quick, Bjornfot, Vilardi, Turcotte, First and they're cap compliant.

Help what exactly?

We don’t wanna be good this year
And even if we did, we are still gonna stink

I’d want another guy that’s gonna be around long term
I’d overpay UFAs to be a Vet presence here
We’ve got the Cap room to do it

Plus…. We still have Skinner & Okposo 😂😂😂

leaving zero space to make roster moves if anyone gets hurt.

I dont think teams want to be Vegas where they cant ice a full team because they are out of cap space.

Also to be fair, I dont see them getting rid of quick. They don't have another goalie.

I was just pointing it's doable. And pending who gets hurt, they can always use that space if needed. They also won't be carrying 14 forwards and 8 dman, which is currently being displayed. They trade for Eichel, we take Quick as the dump, they can figure out their cap and if they want to trade someone else away to ease that.

Yeah my fault.

It still can easily work by taking Olli Maatta and Quick or if Iafallo or Kempe are part of it.

While I see your point, he's been certifiably terrible going on 3 years now. Peterson is ready to take the reigns, but getting a solid backup would be next on the list for sure.

What I’m saying…..
is that instead of Monahan being the 4th piece in your trade scenario,
make that 4th piece a guy who’s gonna be here for more than a season or 2
Monahan here would have a short shelf life

And i get your point about sheltering the kids
I’d just go get a UFA to do that instead of it being a piece in the Eichel trade

And I don’t think we’d get a good return for Monahan when we try to move him unless he has a good bounce back season here
That’s possible of course, but idk that it’s likely

Not my trade proposal, was brought up a few pages ago, and I would gather he is the cap dump.

Great username (Jack?), hope you're wrong. I see him as a something from nothing guy, like your namesake.

Is it sad that it doesn't say Rhino anymore? I am sad.

- TheSabresTaco

We are all sad. But I called the kid, he too would not take a picture with Boss, he's a winner. It's a small consolation.
