I like it

It's competitiveness, always happens in training camp

- Stripes77

I agree if they can have a beer after. Hopefully no grudges are kept

I think that's probably likely but I wouldn't rule out a jump from him to be a good 2C.

I don't think there's much of a chance he's 1C

If Turcotte turned out to be Reinhart, I’d be ok
He was picked 5th, he’s got some talent

No, he could help the kiddie core grow. He is still young enough that if he comes and plays well you could resign him, or you can use him to get assets, he's a good hockey player
- Buff36

Monahan's play and production the past 2 seasons makes questioning how good a hockey player he actually is as a very good question.

Bills practice has ended today. Had a good skirmish between DT Ed Oliver and rookie OT Spencer Brown. Punches were thrown. Oliver ripped off Brown’s helmet. Brown dove on top of him. Other players came running in and there was a big pile of large people.

First training camp fight!

- Stripes77

Was Brown on his knees, surprised Oliver could reach his helmet.😏😏

There is definitely worse things in the world then having Cozens-Mitts-Kotkaniemi however I’m not a fan of any other prospect the Habs have in their system other than Suzuki or Caufield

Kotkaniemi being the big piece in the trade is underwhelming for me

Turcotte is on everyone's top prospects list. I've seen some where he's a top ten. I've seen Kupari on several lists, too.

There whole team fell apart, the guy has had a 80pt season and 3 60pt seasons, even if he Averaged 50pts for us would help.

Agreed, but the secondary pieces from LA trump what MTL could give us IMO.

I also think Turcotte> JK as we have a larger sample on JK

I had Turcotte ranked as the third best prospect in that entire draft class going into it. So far it looks like a huge whiff.

Zegras, Cozens, Caufield, Boldy, Krebs, Newhook have all taken huge steps and look like better prospects at this point.

Turcotte should still be a pretty good player though, would you take Mittelstadt as the main piece in an Eichel deal ?

Monahan would be coming to a team in even worse (much worse) shape then the one he produced poorly for that fell apart, as you put it.

You're expecting a turnaround with the Sabres?

That sounds like a seriously questionable expectation to have.

Depends. Getting Turcotte along with Bjornfot and 22 unprotected first, you got 3 assets all along those lines. Add in Kempe or Vilardi or someone else whos a half step down, could do a lot worse. Could make the team better as a whole.

Have something else lined up for Monahan if traded for. (frank) it, hold 50% of his contract. That would be massive for a team. Getting him at like 3.4M would be very enticing.

He's 20 years old. Had 21 points in 32 AHL games last year in his first year of pro hockey. So I wouldn't compare him to Mitts.

Would I prefer Zegras? Heck yeah.

But if LA comes calling with Turcotte, Kupari ++, I'm listening.

I don’t think super high end talent is coming back to us in the Eichel trade
And that even if we get a guy like Turcotte, Rossi, Zegras, etc etc
I think we get that top offensive talent in the next 2 drafts by picking high

So in an Eichel trade,
I’m looking for talented players that can supplement the future talent we are hopefully getting

That way…. guys like Wright, Bedard, etc aren’t walking into the sh!tshow that Eichel had to walk into here

I think it's reasonable to question it, but also some guys just need a change.

I always find it hard to believe when mid-20's guys numbers fall off a cliff, that they suddenly just became below average.

Yeah, like Sbroads mentioned LA have the secondary pieces that most organizations don’t have. Unless Minny steps up which they have been reluctant to do so

Common logic says a return of Turcotte, Bjornfot, Vilardi, and a 22 1st makes sense and is solid, but based on Adams still holding out, it makes me think that even the return above has not been offered.

Making teh salary work with LA is difficult.
It involves Quick, Iafallo, + another salary peice cming back to Buffalo.

Quick is a dump, Iafallo holds value, AA for example holds some value.

Help what exactly?

We don’t wanna be good this year
And even if we did, we are still gonna stink
