I wonder if the Kraken would be willing to Take Skinner +Eichel for Beniers straight up.
It's criminally low return for Eichel, but worth it potentially to be free of that contract. - matty12345
You’d be taking $19 mill off an already very low payroll. Unless they’re going to start taking on bad contracts to hit the cap floor? |

I would do that if I were the Kracken, but the Sabres would have to spend like 30 Mill to get to the cap floor.....

It will be one of Wright,Savoie, lambert in 3 years - gerbe75pts
I’m a huge fan of Lambert, but we need a Center.
Especially since this organization has decided to draft 20 wingers over the course of the last two years. |

Need Skinner's contract to hit the cap floor - Buff36
Not really. Give some extensions to Dahlin and Jokiharyu, go get a couple of one year cap dumps from other teams...it's not hard to find salary for one year.

I get what you're saying but this is the 2nd attempt in 10 years run by the same owner, the current players coming into their primes are still winners but they gave up on this organization.
I still have yet to see a logical solution presented this time around that will allow winners to want to play for the Sabres.
This organizations entire approach and future is dependent on a lottery pick a year from now.
The insiders advice is go spend time with family, ha jesus, hope really is a lucrative market. - washedup20
I don't think their entire approach is built around the lottery pick. They are acquiring as many picks as they can.
Looks to me like the draft overall is their approach, sure the lotto pick would help, but they're acquiring all the picks they can. Looks like their approach is to get as much young talent into the org as possible to play the numbers game and see what they can develop.
They're not at a point where they want to deal picks for players right now as that will hurt the future, I think they've flipped the philosophy since TM and a desperate JB in his final year towards "stock the shelves".
But I don't think this approach hinges on a lotto pick. |

Naw, they will hopefully be the MacKinnon. Thinking Cozens in the Landeskog role. |

Oh great.
I remember when we talked about this with Eichel.
He was going to be a great captain for us. |

If the cap goes up from the TV deal and Skinner scores some goals, in a few years that contract may not look SO bad.
It will still be bad, but maybe not SO bad. If he's a scoring winger in two maybe three years maybe someone wants him for a push provided the cap goes up.
I know, I know. Crazy optimism. |

See how he plays this season.
If it goes well, put an A on him next season.
Let him play that role for 2 yrs, then slap the C on him. |

It would be surprisingly easy. You could retain half of Skinner's salary for 21-22 only. Give your guys some 5 year deals:
7 or so for Dahlin
4-5 for Jokiharju
3-4 for Mittelstadt
That takes care of half of close to 20 mil. Overpay one or two vets on one year deals, and maybe take a bad contract that is only one more year.

I’m like 99% certain you can’t choose retention on single or multiple years of your choosing. It’s an all or nothing type thing |

Look for guys on 2-3yr cap dumps and pick up the extra picks for the trouble.
We need assets, assets, assets.
The more we get the better odds of picking NHL players. |

Not worth is. Get the return for Eichel and buyout Skinner next year after paying him his $7.5m signing bonus.
