Definitely not getting Caulfield. Kotkaniemi for sure.
TO BUFFALO
Shea Weber, Tyler Toffoli, Ben Chiarot, rights to Kotkaniemi and Lehkonen, conditional 2022 and 2023 1st round pick (2022 is top 5 protected; would extend to 2024 1st), 2022 2nd round pick
TO MTL
Jack Eichel, Anders Bjork, Robert Hagg
---------
-Eichel for Kotkaniemi, Toffoli, 1st and 2rd
-Hagg for Chiarot and the rights to Lehkonen
-Bjork for Weber and a 1st
----------
Montreal loses a ton of picks but gets a franchise player. Bjork and Hagg replace Lehkonen and Chiarot and give Montreal much needed space. Eichel replaces Kotkaniemi and Toffoli has already been replaced by Hoffman in FA. They could look to recoup some picks by eventually moving either Drouin and/or Byron.
Buffalo gets a top 6 forward, two 1st round picks, a 2nd round pick and two top 9 forwards, one being a center with top line potential. Kotkaneimi is insulated by Cozens and Mittelstadt and will still be able to develop. Chiarot and Lehkonen get Buffalo further to the cap floor while serving supporting roles. Weber contract is a massive nuisance for a team that already knows it has to eventually buy out Jeff Skinner so the 3 high picks back are more then fair. Weber of course goes to LTIR and Buffalo still has cap left over to make more moves, one of which should be sending a 2nd for Georgiev. - mochoson
Not moving Eichel with protections on first round picks

Interesting but......
You want a proven 1C with term of that talent level....your best prospects need to be included and no protections for your first.

every proposal i’ve seen is finding a way to avoid giving up a teams best prospect. and people wonder what the hold up is. |

Suzuki does play the important center position though but Caufield is the better player |

If the next couple of years go according to plan we will have a couple of top center prospects, need to get some wingers in there too |

Center ice is the most important position.
Need to hedge against not getting Wright or Savoie.
Suzuki-Cozens-Mitts can be an admirable spine. No legit #1 but realistically not many teams do have a legit franchise center. |

It's much easier to transition to the wing than the other way around though but I get your point

Having those 3 fully developed gives you 3 legitimate scoring lines. Something the Eichel era never had.

So you agree, he is two old to be a part of the future core.
Not sure why I have to argue about it. You even say you would trade him away agreeing he is not a part of the future yet you argue about it. - sabresfan69
No, he could help the kiddie core grow. He is still young enough that if he comes and plays well you could resign him, or you can use him to get assets, he's a good hockey player |

One in the hand is worth two in the Bush.
You can find wingers anywhere, Centers not so much. |

You guys think you're so funny. Well, I bet your Governor never made a slogan that literally said "Meth, we're on it"
South Dakota for the win. You MFers better know we all on that poop when you try to invade. |

I think it’s known by now we aren’t getting a teams top prospect(s) for Eichel. Cap league, they aren’t doing that. Those guys are more valuable to a lot of GMs over a 10 million salary.
Maybe they will budge but most likely not from all insider reports That leaves us with two options.
Tell jack we aren’t trading you
Accept a lower return.
Up to KA what one he’s gonna go with |

I think the shocking part of their deal and the reason the Sabres are listening is because one of them is in it |

Are there any details as to what the offer from the Habs was?
If it's within the division it BETTER be good. Like REALLY good. - gcomella34
Elliott Friedman said the term he heard was a “low ball” offer |
