Why is he to old, and gives the kiddie core time to grow. - Buff36
As he gets older his value depreciates, if you hold onto him and plan on losing then you are just wasting an opportunity to get future assets.
He will be a free agent in two years at 28. We wont be winning for 2 years.
Just connect the dots. |

Don’t think the majority of players would come here and be a malcontent. Teams have ups and downs.
Look at the Bills. A laughingstock of NFL for years. Draft right, win games and players want to come here. Will be the same with the Sabres.
Bring a young core up with a good attitude, start making progress, and start winning (prob not this year) and we will be a nice place to play again - Fattony1187
You’re damn right. poop, good players now actually have the Panthers on their list of teams they WANT to play for. Anything is possible.... build it correctly this time. |

You have 2yrs with him, and he's only 26. 1 year to help as the kids grow and then get some assets for the 2023 draft. |

Kind of meaningless when it all boils down to it. You take the best offer whether it's from Montreal or Minnesota or Philadelphia or Colorado or whomever. Jack's simply not that good to worry about him being in the same division.
And if the best offer is still a low ball then you tell Jack to cry into his gigantic piles of money as he plays for the Buffalo Sabres for the next five years if need be. - lacaprup
Trading him in division is meaningless and doesn’t up or lower offers for me. This isn’t the NFL where the division games matter way more and he’s knocking you out of the playoff race.
You may face him more in the playoffs but that is years down the line. Plus, he is no where the superstar we thought he would be. He’s a very good player, potential to be elite but hurt all the time.
Plus going to Montreal would be great. He would hate it and I don’t see them becoming a super team with him anyway |

So you agree, he is two old to be a part of the future core.
Not sure why I have to argue about it. You even say you would trade him away agreeing he is not a part of the future yet you argue about it. |

But that does mean he or someone like him, could provide some value to that core of players and then be moved to acquire more future assets after some time with the org.
Or are you just saying, because he's too old, forget what else he could provide just look elsewhere? |

I never said he couldn't I only said he is too old to be a part of the future here.
You posters argue then agree and want to trade him away next year. |

The last question was just trying to make sure I understood you correctly.
You would just rather get a different asset that will provide value when the core is ready and value that MORE than what he could provide to the core by being a "mentor". Therefore you don't want him because you don't deem him as valuable as that future asset.
I'm mulling over if someone like Monahan can help this core. And if that is something that would be valuable in an Eichel trade.
You have made up your mind, I'm still considering.
That's called a difference of opinion, or the very purpose a message board exists. |

Good luck finding good quality blow.
You won’t have to worry about bushing your teeth with meth.
Hookers are a good way to lose weight rapidly. |

Caufield/Suzuki + Kitkaniemi or no deal - sabresfan69
Definitely not getting Caulfield. Kotkaniemi for sure.
TO BUFFALO
Shea Weber, Tyler Toffoli, Ben Chiarot, rights to Kotkaniemi and Lehkonen, conditional 2022 and 2023 1st round pick (2022 is top 5 protected; would extend to 2024 1st), 2022 2nd round pick
TO MTL
Jack Eichel, Anders Bjork, Robert Hagg
---------
-Eichel for Kotkaniemi, Toffoli, 1st and 2rd
-Hagg for Chiarot and the rights to Lehkonen
-Bjork for Weber and a 1st
----------
Montreal loses a ton of picks but gets a franchise player. Bjork and Hagg replace Lehkonen and Chiarot and give Montreal much needed space. Eichel replaces Kotkaniemi and Toffoli has already been replaced by Hoffman in FA. They could look to recoup some picks by eventually moving either Drouin and/or Byron.
Buffalo gets a top 6 forward, two 1st round picks, a 2nd round pick and two top 9 forwards, one being a center with top line potential. Kotkaneimi is insulated by Cozens and Mittelstadt and will still be able to develop. Chiarot and Lehkonen get Buffalo further to the cap floor while serving supporting roles. Weber contract is a massive nuisance for a team that already knows it has to eventually buy out Jeff Skinner so the 3 high picks back are more then fair. Weber of course goes to LTIR and Buffalo still has cap left over to make more moves, one of which should be sending a 2nd for Georgiev. |
