He definitely should care what Buffalo thinks.
Kevyn says you're worth X. If I can't sell you for X, you stay.
If I were Jack, I would most definitely care. - TheSabresTaco
Yes he should, but he's such a arrogant pr!ck, doubt he thinks that way. |

We are in a position that both sides have needs:
1. The team needs value for letting one of the top Centers in the market leave.
2. Jack "needs" really wants, out.
The best way to get that:
1. Jack to get healthy.
2. Jack to show he can be professional.
3. Team can demonstrate to player they will work with you.
4. Jack to erase some of the whispers about his attitude.
If those above are done, both sides will have an outcome that works for them. Acting like a petulant child won't help.
There may be good reasons he's mad at the org, BUT they are clear they need to get a certain value. He needs to do whatever he can to help them get that IF he wants to play anywhere else for the next 5 years. |

To be clear, I have no confirmation on whether the recent Habs offer was accepted or not by Buffalo. I don’t think we’re there yet, other teams are still in the mix as well and are also waiting on medical reports before going further. Eichel camp want a resolution pronto. |

If that is true then I have ZERO desire to take anything less than full market value or he stays.
Then you just enforce every provision in his contract to address any behaviors. Due so in accordance with the contract and not beyond and be clear as to why.
Always offer him, if you turn your attitude around it will help me get you what you want, but this needs to stop.
You suffer what you tolerate. |

good point. As a professional athlete, you would think he wouldn't do anything to worsen his own health. He knows it's bad for him, bad for the team, and lengthens his stay with Buffalo. - TheSabresTaco

Good Post - Buff36
You know, I wonder if KA being a former player known for professionalism and dedication influences how he addresses players and expectations for them.
Side note:
This is a total wish...
But I would LOVE to find out a few years later, that KA did all this in an effort to show Jack he NEEDS to mature.
Something like, "Well we wanted you to see what our expectations were for a return, and it came well short. This is what we think of you and this is what everyone thinks of you. The reasons were X,Y, and Z" One of those would be the word about him as a captain and a leader.
That would be some great next level stuff.
But I'll probably settle for the crap return we get as the org inevitably caves. LOL |

No, but I do negotiate some contract provisions particularly around a vendor's deliverables and remedies. Procurement does the legal speak but I get a hand in saying you will do X by Y date, and then I'm the one that enforces it.
I'm not a jerk, because I'm the vendors biggest advocate at my company and I ensure they get paid, that's HUGE to them. But they know I'm fair.
And I become infinitely more detail oriented and document everything if I see you're not delivering on what was promised.
Edit: But the vendors that I work with typically get more share of the available annual business because I am very straight forward and factual. Which is how I approach everything. And I DO choose not to enforce minor provisions in a contract and cut them some slack when I know outside things effect it and they're giving me everything they have. It's about maintaining a relationship. |

I can't blame you.
Despite having a clown in your avatar, he was way more of one during that last presser.
I've said it before, if I'm one of the players on the Sabres that ended this season with the high of seeing everything start to gel (a little) with Donny as coach and start believing in the core....and then that talented guy that wears a C says, I want out, I'm sick of losing....
What I hear is you don't think I'm or we are good enough for you. You can believe I'd be reminding my team mates of that all next year. ESPECIALLY when he comes into our building.... |

Good point just made on WGR in regards to Devon Levi.
Ullmark was drafted 9 years ago, and we were still unsure if he was a full time starter or not.
Expectations need to be extremely tampered with goalie prospects. |

Which is why I'm a proponent of having a ton of them...
Like as many goalies as Solomon had concubines and wives...
We need a harem of goalies... |

Watched tape. I don't see an NHL caliber prospect unless a lot changes fwiw. He hangs his glove, doesn't get good push oftentimes and even has issues tracking. Not sure he's making the show. Hope I'm wrong. |

I saw someone else say he's the next Carey Price, I'll have to find the article I believe.
Just goes to show you, goalies are ALL over the place. |

One can exist despite not having a check mark.
I believe he's a legit person, but I don't know if he has any insider information. |

Buffalo has to take on some really bad contracts to get that done. Kotkaniemi definitely gone too. Montreal would be making a mini overhaul of their roster to get it done. To say this deal would have to be a blockbuster is an understatement.

As long as those contracts are only about 2 MAYBE 3 years, they are in position to do that.
But I would think that would only increase the return you get for Eichel because they'd be getting two important assets from Buffalo right now:
1. Jack Eichel
2. Salary Cap
Salary Cap is a much cheaper asset for sure, but I don't see how adding back bad contracts does not make sure they're getting even more.
KA has a base value for Eichel he wants alone, maybe he does have to take a bad contract back to make the money work, but I'd be looking for an additional mid to late round pick as that is pretty much the going rate for trading for cap space. |
