If that's true I am glad. I think Turcotte and Clarke would be enough for me to live with. - matty12345
I could be “ok” with a package that starts with Turcotte & doesn’t include Byfield
But I’d definitely need (at least) 3 other good assets coming with him- especially if we have to take a bunch of Cap back from them as part of the deal |

Turcotte, Kupari, Bjornfot, 1st, Mattaa - Powerslave
Something like that i could deal with
I’d like more, but that’s an “ok” package imo |

Right, sure he has an NMC that kicks in beyond this year.
But that's pretty simple.
"Jack, you want out and team X is the only one that is giving the offer we need for you. Do you want to play there or here?"
He's not going to just mail it in if he has to play. He'll be trying to put up as many points as possible to increase his trade value. - gcomella34
A 50% Eichel is literally better then anyone else we have at the forward position. |

Ok ... shouldnt get you a franchise ALL Star elite center. |

What about Eichel for Byfield straight up? Include Quick and Maatta as cap dumps.

Yeah the situation is net is definitely not good. I see some players who could definitely help, however.
Bozak and Zajac could help stabilize the team down the middle. Donato and Heinen are two cheap, young-er fowards out there. Ryan Murray and Jordie Benn could be solid adds on D.
Kind of hard to fill other holes until you see if some of those holes are filled by the Eichel trade. - mochoson
Would be solid adds but I think they want to give reps to Cozens, Mitts and Asplund down the middle. Girgensons/Hinostroza/Okposo figures to be the checking line. |

I do get the impact on the culture of the locker room if you have a malcontent.
But lowering your ask I think is worse. You can have him in the locker room and establish that these are the behavioral expectations or we will use punitive measure X.
If he chooses to just get the surgery without following the arbitration process he's in clear violation of his contract and the Sabres could REALLY have a field day with that. - gcomella34
i agree in general
But we’re gonna suck for the next couple years no matter what- so if we have to have Jack hanging around for a bit longer acting like a pouty crybaby, then so be it
I’m with you
The worst thing Adams can do is “sell low” on Jack
I think another GM will crack before he does
At least that’s what I’m hoping |

No thank you..... pass on that. That is like getting the ROR all over again - Sabretooth9
That is NOTHING like getting the ROR.
Those first three are legit NHL players, and by all accounts, should be damn good ones |

I know this wasn't directed at me, but why would I be willing to trade a known commodity for an unknown AND a cap dump?
Byfield is STILL an unknown compared to Eichel AND I'd be doing them a favor by clearing more cap so they could sign the necessary talent to win an SC and the Sabres could potentially have a bust (remote but a possibility).
Don't settle. |

We can't continue to have the rep that we sell low every time someone says I want out.
That is a HORRIBLE precedent and effects trades going forward and your locker room. It reinforces that if players complain in the media they'll get what they want even if it's to the org's detriment. |

Well i used “ok” in relative terms comparing a Turcotte based package vs a Byfield led one
If Byfield didn’t exist,
I think a package that starts with Turcotte can be just as good as one that starts with Boldy or Rossi or Zegras, etc etc etc
We’re talking semantics now….
but i was saying I’d be “ok” receiving that package
Which i think would be “good” but not a “great” return |

What EXACTLY makes u think the Sabres want Asplund to play down the middle?
He’s been mostly on the wing with us |

Because Eichel is an unknown too. No one knows what is really going to happen with his neck. Byfield is cost controlled for way longer, fits our timeline better, and most importantly is the only piece in LA's organization with the potential to be as good or better than Eichel.
I'd rather bank on one (almost) sure piece than quantity.

I would strongly disagree that Byfield represents a more sure thing than Jack Eichel. |

100% agree
The Sam return wasn’t great,
but the Risto one was OUTSTANDING
With this Eichel trade, i believe Adams will pretty much lock in who he’s going to be as a GM for his future in Buffalo
If he backs too far down here, he’ll have no chance at being effective going forward imo
So he’s gonna have to hold out for a “good” return at least- if not a “great” return
Well see what happens! |

So then we wait for Eichel’s neck to heal & he’s not longer an “unknown”
Boom- problem solved |
