The Buffalo Sabres today announced the following changes to the team's coaching and development staffs:

Jason Christie, Matt Ellis and Marty Wilford have been hired as assistant coaches and Justin White has been hired as video coordinator. Assistant coach Mike Bales and video coach Myles Fee will both remain with the team this season.

Adam Mair has been hired as director of player development and Dan Girardi will remain with the organization in a development role.

Kinda interesting that Marty Wilford was an assistant in Anaheim the last 3 years. Then of course that might not mean a thing lol.

It's really not that hard to compete for 8th. I could see this team in 2022/2023 finishing 9th or 10t and being in it until the last week or two.

Next year is going to suck though, no getting around that. It's all about if they can find 10 or so core players this year.

Eichel fits LA's timeline perfectly as he is a bridge between their aging vets and the kids. He would throw their window wide open.

It doesn’t have to be though.

They can build a solid lineup without Eichel if they get the right pieces

Kopitar is about to be 34 years old. He has a 1-2 year window

Danault and Eichel would be there for 5 years

LA has the cleanest cap situation of any team were negotiating with. They have Kopitar at 10, Danault at 5.5, Brown at 5.8, Arvidsson at 4.2, and Iafallo at 4.0

That’s a cheap forward group without Eichel and Brown is a UFA after this year

The Sabres could take any of Quick, Maatta, Brown back in cap dumps for 1 season.

They’d still be my betting favorite, and as 89 and my buddy have said they are constantly circling the Sabres

My money is on Guerin. The wild didn't buy out Parise and Suter to just do nothing. All the biggest names are gone now, he almost HAS to make some sort of big trade.

You can't say that all the trade partners were able to get through other trades or FA their plan at 1C, or at least a 1C of Eichel's caliber.
