I would love to see Rubstov earn a spot but he needs to show growth. Allison and Laczynski were able to produce and didn't look out of place in the AHL. You need to see that from Rubstov. Even Foerestter and Wisdom were able to produce and play well. If a younger player wants to be called up and earn a spot they have to force their way.

Rubstov is done, he sucks . Guy didn’t even stand out as an over ager in Junior.

Overage is 20+. Rubtsov was 19 in his last game in the Q.

"The Flyers currently have $8.01 million of cap space free below the ceiling. Most of it will be taken up by new contracts for restricted free agents Carter Hart and Travis Sanheim."

Most of it had BETTER NOT be taken up by Carter Hart and Travis Sanheim!

Sanheim is worth maybe $2+some change/year at the most.

Carter Hart is worth about the same.

Both of these players should be on a "prove it to me" contract.

I don't care about term, necessarily, but to spend upwards of $8m on these two players is insane.

You keep saying we traded 2 of the worst players in the league , based on last years results, and thats just not true. The Flyers 2 worst players last year , expected performance vs performance , was Hayes and Hart. Hart was the worst starting goalie in the NHL and it wasnt all on the D. He was consistently beat on his glove side with many many weak backbreaking goals. Myers and Patrick werent the cause of Flyers failures last year. Saying that, Patrick had to go though I would have preferred we have gotten Cody Glass for him. Myers will be every bit as good as Risto will be if not better.
- hfc355

Patrick was the worst fwd in the league and it really wasnt even close. Myers is not as good as Risto is, laughable comparison considering Myers was riding Cote sweet a lot last season.

Chuck is his interview said they were the next priorities and believes when do they will still have room to maybe sign another or make a move if necessary. In season.

So we traded 2 of the worst players on the team Patrick/Myers, 1 of which was the worst player in the entire league (Patrick), got rid of Ghosts awful contract too, got rid of Jakes awful contract, and received a top pairing RD in Ellis on a cheap contract, Ristolainen whose physical presence is going to be much needed on this team because we are soft and can play in a top 4 role, and Atkinson who is a much better all around player than Voracek and has a much cheaper contract to go with that, and you are upset? LOL. Give me a break. Did you see how many people are over 30 on Tampa Bay? Idk how they won the cup with so many old geezers. Literally half that team was over 30. But hey, go ahead and keep making poop up that 30 year olds can't play hockey anymore

Also I hate to have to remind you that signing free agents to cheap 1 year deals is a lot different than giving up assets to acquire them, but you knew that, you just like being completely disingenuous.

- Richieattack18

The view here on Nolan Patrick is really weird. The kid puts up back to back 30 point seasons before 20 years old, than career is derailed for a year and a half due to concussions and Covid but the expectation is he should return as the second coming of Mario Lemieux? One bad season by both Patrick and Myers and improvement is out of the question? See, you cannot have a conversation with this kind of stupidity and logic. Like, in what world are Tampa Bay’s 30 year old players comparable to Philly’s 30 year olds? Who in their right mind is proud to have Nate Thompson at 37 when the season begins and talking up Cam Atkinson who has never carried an NHL team in his career, while we give up a guy who wasn’t perfect but did most of our offensive heavy lifting this passed decade outside of our Captain. Do you like giving up multiple draft picks for nothing? Because I don’t.

What if Frost can't stay healthy, or isn't effective? Then what?
- PLindbergh31

I'm with you. What do we do? No way Thompson moves into 3C. Laughton moves back to C? Bunny or Lazynski? Is there another deal out there?

We had the same issue this past year. Over reliance on young kids stepping up. Myers, Sanheim, Patty, etc. Didn't work.

Cizikas would have been a perfect addition. When I read yesterday the Flyers were interested I was excited. The excitement was gone 15 mins later when that slug Thompson was signed. Jones and Thompson were literally the worst options for the holes the Flyers had, and of course that is what Chuckles comes away with.

We improved in one area, defense and that’s it. Our “stars” are now one year older. Giroux, van Riemsdyk, Konency, Hayes and Atkinson aren’t these elite offensive threats. If Couturier is in the conversation for being an elite player, it’s for his two way play. He’s likely to sacrifice offense for defense, so this team better be shutdown down everyone in close but low scoring games.

Cizikas or Glendeninhg. Easily exactly what we needed but somehow we needed to be first in line for Thompson before he got away.

I’m not saying I wanted Jake Voracek to stay but he was our most offensively productive player when in the line up. I believe out of the three players that tied in the lead for points, Jake the least amount of games. We’re gonna miss that if not properly replaced.

I’m with you 100% on the Thompson signing. If he is going to be a depth forward I’d be fine. I don’t see that happening though.

@JFreshHockey
Martin Jones, signed 1x$2M by PHI, has struggled quite a bit since 2018 and tends to have catastrophic games. He was better than both of the Flyers' goalies last season, amusingly. #FlyorDie

I’m sorry that all you can comprehend is what happened last year, it will be included in their contract negotiations but not the only thing considered.

Hart has had two good seasons, and one where he was arguably the worst goaltender in the NHL. Sanheim had a solid season in 2018-19, other than that he's been pretty pedestrian.

Which is why Lappy is now the Phantoms' coach. To prepare the kids to step up and play in AV's system.

Give credit where it's due, Fletcher is trying hard to turn this ship around.
I think he's done wonderfully so far this off-season.

Agreed.
And "none" is the right answer.

Both should get "Prove it" deals. I would expect BOTH salaries combined to be somewhere near $5m next year. COMBINED.
Sanheim wasn't very good.
Hart wasn't very good, but he didn't get much help.
