Good evening everyone. Happy about Hoffman?
- Mr.FunFacts

I wonder though.

Is he better than Tuna?

Probably a small upgrade.

No I get that, but danault did an excellent job shutting down the opposing teams best players. He wasn’t expected to score Crosby type points. Replacing that with mike Hoffman isn’t really ideal right now.
- cburgess

Danault definitely did a good job shutting down players and it sucks he left. Mike Hoffman really isn't a replacement for him though, if he's a replacement for anybody it's Tatar and a big (frank)ing upgrade at that. Our team has gotten worse defensively in losing Danault and Weber, but the good news is I think our team is very good offensively. I really can't see us having trouble scoring when we have 3 lines who can score and even the 4th line can chip too occasionally.

Yes, unless you know, his Wife stirs it up again here.
- Benny Blanco

We got him at a decent price. Losing Danault IMO is the bigger news. Like others have said if Evans can fill that void we should be alright.

Is he decent at defence tho? I know it’s boring but you kinda need the Danault type centre to play against the top lines. Kk can’t and I don’t think Suzuki should with his offensive upside.
- cburgess

I don't dismiss the importance of defense at all which is why it sucks Danault left. I'm hopeful Evans or Paquette can, but I doubt they'll be as good as Danault.

Hmmm, that’s an excellent question. For sure on the PP IMO. I hope we get to see a Drouin Suzuki Hoffman. I understand they are both left wingers but my god does that not sound legit or what.

Suzuki feeding Caufield and Hoffman on the PP sounds more tantalizing to me.

I was being sarcastic about His Wife, someone on here brought that up a few times, it was 2018.

Consensus on TSN/SNET, pure goal scorer, not so good on the defensive side.

I'm a little surprise Corey Perry isn't confirmed back yet.

No they won’t be, as you point out they got worse defensively. And that is the only reason they made it as far as they did this playoffs. Now with the moves made today, they are going to be forced to play a more offensive game. I’m not sure if that’s gonna work against Toronto and tampa that’s all.

Indeed, I see Caufield playing on the 2nd and third lines more then the first but I can be wrong. He’s still very young.

How about Eric Haula, no one has brought his name up, he can play center both offensive and defensive. I think he’d fit in so well on the Habs.

a lot of wingers on that team as it stands.
Caufield, Anderson, Gallagher, Armia on RW
Toffoli, Hoffman, Drouin, Lekhonen on LW
then you still have Byron and Paquette.
have to think one will go for a center.

I think he will definitely start with Suzuki. And whatever line Suzuki is on will be the #1 line.

I know Fido.

I tried to make lines earlier, that's some very interesting depth on the wing already.

Our success at centre depends on KK/Evans/Poehling improving significantly. Risky stuff for the short term success of the team.

Possible.

I'm just thinking if we're down to playing Byron at centre, something went wrong.

And I can't drive the #optobus with that kind of thinking in july.
