Too bad he didn't want to stick around to have that exact same role in Montreal.

I like Phil, but I'm glad we didn't overpay him.

I'm disappointed a 500k difference was enough to make him leave.

- Scabeh

I think they told him he would have PP time.

Some stability in wingers will do wonders for KK, who pretty much played with different people every game.
- Scabeh

He needs a big summer if he’s going to be the #2 centre. He’s pretty
Hit and miss. I’m assuming he will start with Hoffman and Anderson. Sort of leaves Gallagher playing with a 4th line centre.

Gallagher is on the 3rd line you may be right that it maybe a 4th line caliber centre. That being said I wonder how Gally will feel having his 2 linemates gone

I'm willing to bet Evans can become almost as good defensively and almost as good offensively in the very short term, for a fraction of the price.

So if KK takes a step and Poehling can become a NHL regular, we'll be fine.

We're talking about replacing Danault here, not Crosby....

- Scabeh

No I get that, but danault did an excellent job shutting down the opposing teams best players. He wasn’t expected to score Crosby type points. Replacing that with mike Hoffman isn’t really ideal right now.

I believe after Jim's big house cleaning the past few days they have enough cap space for Hughes/Petersson on bridge deals.
- Benny Blanco

Why would Hugues take a bridge deal when Makar just explode the bank in Colorado?

What kind of bridge deal can you give? They have pretty similar stats

And one play for an Elite team and the other for.. ueh

He won't care, as long as the team is winning.

Copy and paste.

A bridge deal also means that Pettersson and Hughes get a chance to see how the Canucks are trending going forward and not give up any of their unrestricted free agency years. Pettersson currently can be an unrestricted free agent in 2025, while for Hughes it’s 2026.

Glad the habs passed on that price. Concerned the wingers with the addition of Hoffman are going to run out of quality centres to play with tho. Suzuki is fine but it’s pretty thin after that. Would they ever try drouin at centre again?
- cburgess

I'd like to see Poehling given a shot as a 3rd line center. He had a hat trick his first NHL game. He didn t do much the following year, but I think the team sucked that year.

Is he decent at defence tho? I know it’s boring but you kinda need the Danault type centre to play against the top lines. Kk can’t and I don’t think Suzuki should with his offensive upside.
