He isn’t special. I’m indifferent about it. He’s a stopgap player.

Hopefully trying to gain leverage... Fleury considering retiring, not many options for Chicago to trade him to. Their only other goalie is Lankinen (meh) and the goalie market is starting to get slim. Jarry and a 3rd for Fleury (1/2 retained)... do they want a guy capable of competing to be a starter and a mid round draft pick or do they want nothing?

That's a move I'd have wanted to make and sad to see the Caps get him back.

The biggest issue last year was goaltending, and they did NOTHING to address that.
*Dont tell me they are waiting to deadline to buy MAF cheap from Chicago.
A) that would be a bad move given MAF playoff propensity to allow soft goals at horrible times.
B) the Pens might be so far out of the playoffs by then they will be sellers and not buyers.

*Seemingly every other team in the division got stronger between trades and FA signings. We definitely are not as strong as we were at end of season last year.

Do we need a “thinking outside the box” talk about vanacek getting traded back to the capitals!?
