I could absolutely see Ottawa moving Brannstrom......its obvious DJ Smith doesnt like him, he gave Mette more icetime in the last 10 games......
- Kevin Francis

If the long-term vision of the team is to have Chabot-Sanderson as their LHD on the top-2 pairings, then using Brannstrom to land a high-quality C would hardly be the worst idea... in fact, it's often argued as the whole point of drafting the BPA, so that you an trade from a position of strength to balance your roster. And putting a name like that on the table definitely moves the conversation well beyond the likes of Henrique, Strome, or Monahan. I'm not even sure who all might be available with Brannstrom on the table, but maybe a guy like Dubois?

I am sure there are GM's out there that still see upside with Brannstrom if used properly! As for Dubois, this past season he regressed, so if he can regain his form from the previous season I would be open to it for sure!

It's a good thing Ottawa is staying quiet because some of these contracts being signed are pretty bad. Takes cheap scraps tomorrow will definitely be the best move right now even if it means less excitement today.

Wow! Just an incredible trade by Dorion. Dadonov is due $11.5M in actual salary over the next 2 years. Instead of having to pay someone to take the contract off our hands, we get a third round pick plus what should be a solid third pairing defenceman with size on a friendly contract in Nick Holden. It also frees up cash for an acquisition or cash to use on Tkachuk, Batherson, etc.

After a series of misguided (bad) acquisitions last year, this is a welcome step in the right direction.

I'm 100% on board with including Brannstrom in a trade to get a center or fill another position of need. With Sanderson and Chabot, the team is set for puck moving D on the left side.

Certainly makes you wonder. Most GM's are thinking 2 steps ahead of their next move....gotta think something is on the brink
- Kevin Francis

Perhaps they plan to shift White to wing, so that L Brown can play Center on the third line.

Norris
Pinto
Brown
Tierny

I think you're more likely to be correct though, and that some move is coming.

Agreed! They got caught last year overpaying for Dadonov, wait and see is a much better approach.

How about 3 years too long, they will realize that after the first year!

How about 4 years too long. Don't need the first year to realize that, unless your name is Kenny.

From all accounts, he played not too bad in Pitt this past season but they also put Ceci in the right situations.....I guess time will tell

So does the Del Zotto signing signify Brannstrom being moved?

The focus now shifts to the center ice position with Holden and Del Zotto in the fold.

Kyle Palmieri would be a nice add for the Sens

My favourite memory of Dandanov. Game 1, missing wide open net on powerplay.

Not sure I really like the Del Zotto signing so much... especially if that's all they're going to be doing to improve the defence. Not to mention that, as you noted, it would appear to put either Brannstrom or Mete in the cross-hairs.

Maybe Vegas needs more cap space for Eichel? Stone for Brannstrom and a 2nd sounds about right.

Zib want 10 m next contract. If Rangers can afford Zib plus Eichel

He was money against Toronto in the 6-5 OT comeback. If he had more games like that would have loved to keep the guy.

Daddy trade is a good one, Moved that contract out and helps build our future.

Del Zotto was a pick up I suggested 2-3 years ago

I can't see Ottawa getting rid of Brans. PD is way to proud of trading for him and there is to much potential there to let go.

This a good point on Brannstrom, Dorion would certainly catch some flak after how much he said it was a great move.

Although Brannstrom is still rather highly regarded among the pundits, so it would be a decent time to trade if they were going to, if you thought he wasn't going to reach that cieling.

Brannstrom never a DJ guy. I mean the Sens can roll with 8 D to start.

Maybe one of Mete or Branny in a deal for Strome. Dare I say Eichel?

I am STUNNED both Jones and Reimer got what they did.

And who plays net for the Avs?

And Dallas now has 4 goalies on the roster?

good dadonov trade, you can bet a LHD is getting traded, would be realy stupid to trade branny for 3c strome from NY..strome is a 3c ffs, not a 1 or 2c in any way shape or form.

im guessing one of del zotto or holden will be playing off hand, OTT now has 5 LHD + sanderson

Eichel and Skinner for a 1st, White, Branny and one other piece (conditional pick, Abramov, Logan Brown, Greg, etc,)?

Taking on Skinners contract would be worth 3 firsts alone....

OTT is not trading for eichel, dorion does not have the balls to do a trade like that and melnyk is too cheap to pay a player 10m/year.

I think Dorion went as far to say that was his proudest day as a ottawa senator......
