Poganski is signed to a two-way contract, he's a body for the Moose.

Today at 5 eastern time is the deadline for players with arbitration rights to file, the same time tomorrow is the deadline for teams to file if they choose to.

Jets RFA'S with arbitration rights are Pionk, Copp and RHD prospect Johnny Kovacevic.

Will be interesting to see if any of these guys file for arbitration or if the Jets elect to, not a good sign if either side does.

I feel bad for the guy! He’s obviously dealing with mental illness and addiction is something that is very challenging to overcome. Makes people do things that they normally would not.

I am just hopeful for both his sake and his family that he checks himself into a treatment center to get the help he desperately needs.

I never thought Copp would sign but I had thought Pionk would. I think the adding of two top four Dmen may have made his signing more difficult. My belief was that Chevy's only potential mistake this offseason was that he should have just protected Appleton and left Copp as the dangle. I'm not sure Francis would have taken him because of his RFA status, his agent, Kurt Overcharge, and his previous arbitration hearing which left Copp with a bitter taste in his month.

Now that its a 1 yr contract on the table I doubt Chevy will let Copp walk for free but rather sign him ( unless it's some ridiculous amount over $5 MM ) . At this point there is not much value in trading a guy like him who will be a UFA next yr.

My estimate as to what these two might get:

Pionk - about the same as Morrissey - around the $6 mill mark

Copp - a little more than Lowry - around the $3.7 mark

Of course it depends how many years they want to sign for. Short term = more $$$

If Copp and Pionk sign for that amount, assuming Stanley for $1 million on a two year bridge and Beaulieu buried in the minors for a tiny bit of cap savings(which seems very unlikely), Niku as the #7 dman and Little on LTIR they'd be pretty much maxed out for cap space, not sure they'd even have enough for a 14th forward, if they did it'd be really tight for space without much maneuverability throughout the season or at the TDL.

Yea, agree with what you're saying.

We are going to be up pretty tight to the cap - unless a deal is made. I would think Copp is the most likely move. For who that might be is the question.

Maybe a younger (cheaper) forward and a recoup a 2nd rd pick? Or Copp and Pionk for a proven sniper? (depending on what we can sign Pionl for)

Chevy has indicated that this is an “all-in” type of year. A team does not trade valuable pieces when they feel they are on verge of doing something special.

I am all about asset management, however in this case, even if both guys get one year deals that walk them to becoming UFA’s, I am all for it. Unless the Jets are trading for something of significance that will help them right now.

In a world where Seth Jones costs more than Dougie Hamilton, Pionk could be worth 10 or 2.

Odds are he’s over 6, with worse players making more left right and centre

Ryan Murray to the Avs for one year at $2M, I'd way rather have him at that price or a bit more, Pionk locked down long term, Heinola on his ELC and no draft picks lost then Dillon and Schmidt and their large contracts eating up cap space for the next few years, would also have cap space for a much needed addition up front.
