Eichel is out there. Lindros was out there. - Stayin alive
Eichel isn't out there. He is a Sabre. And if your trying to get him the package needs to be huge. So, you might get a top line center but then your taking hits in your depth other places. Also who says the Sabres really want to trade him in conference.
Lindros was a draft pick that comes along only so often.
These guys are not guys that come around all the time.
I would say, if you wanted to move Couturier, it should have been done with hextall since it was a bit of a rebuild then. Then it might have made sense since he was on a very reasonable deal and would have got you max value at the time since Hextall seemed to be slow paying when he wanted to compete.

2 goals 3 apples, plus 4 over 50% on faceoffs last year. 800k for a year. candidly, the Flyers have much better options in the system, bad on them if they can't outplay Thompson. Youngens get hurt or need a break to reset then Thompson in. I do agree he won't make his wingers any better - wcorvette
Correct, if they can't outplay Thompson, then they deserve the bench or the Phantoms. Competition for a spot should be good for them. |

Wont matter if they outplay him if the coach plays Thompson anyway.

The thing is the coach will play him every game or close to it. Didn't he get more ice time than Giroux in the playoffs in several games? - hello it's me 2050
yeah I guess we will have to see. I don't see AV playing him if others are playing to their ability. That said he played for a playoff team last year and played his game. If he plays to much that will probably be more to do with others not stepping up

He asked NOT to be drafted.
Molson's statement says they were wrong to do so but that they will continue to support the player. His potential to have a career hasn't been diminished. - shekkie
Should his potential to have a career be diminished though? He has been tried, convicted and paid what the law there considers to be a deserving punishment: $1650.
The Canadiens also have a responsibility to pick the best talent for their club. The trick here was to separate the hockey player from the douche act, and make sure the drafting was not in any way diminishing the seriousness of the crime. Two separate issues.
In today's world, it was bound to get mixed up and the Canadiens should have been more prepared. |

Ask "at what price" and you may find out that the price Buffalo is asking is far higher than any benefit for adding a $9.5M hit to the cap. Eichel alone was not enough to raise Buffalo from the septic tank of the league. What makes you think he'll do different here? |

Point 8-years $9.5M - Tomahawk
I think that's fair. The 8 years is a given. I would have guessed 9m but ballpark. |

Solid point. As well, I injuries happen. Depth is good. That’s also why I like the yandle signing. He can run 2pp and provides depth. |

Looks like Coots is getting around 8.5M. It absolutely starts with 8M, zero chance it’s lower |

Molson is kind of forced to make such a statement after the Prime Minister of the country gets involved.
Personally, I respect the Habs for it. I like that their immediate statement was basically "everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves and as a professional sports organization who else is better equipped to help this young man?".
Coyotes should have done the same thing with Mitchell Miller or don't draft him at all. What they did to that kid was ridiculous.

Suddenly, the pp qb cup brimmeth over: Provy and York were already there. Now Risto, Ellis and Yandle.

better question...IS his potential for a career being diminshed? Have you read Molson's statement? The team intends to keep the player, monitor him and support him.

It will really change nothing as his cap hit will just take the place of Giroux's. Giroux is the deal that could be difficult. |

If Frost is an NHL player, Tanner L plays well, there is no room for Nate. Now if they don't you could see Nate. You could see him when the Flyers play heavier teams. I hope he does not play but again he played 44 games for the jets and was a plus 4 and over 50% on the dot. At 36 there is only one way he is still in the best league in the world, one way he is a plus player and kills penalties, he is a true pro and he works his tail off. If our young players have to work harder to beat him out that will not be a bad thing

Whoever crafted that statement should lose his/her job. Because if you read it, it suggests this "young man" is an alcoholic or has a drug problem and needs "help." Not a word about the fact that there was another life affected.
Trudeau had no choice. if a club you have publicly supported just weeks ago does something off-the-chart stupid like this, you cannot be silent. Especially given what he has based his brand on. |

Nate Thompson is a better 4C than Nolan Patrick, at least. |

This coach loves him some Nate. Again I don't think it is a matter of beating him out. Unless Nate is just complete crap he will play no matter what the others do imo.
